IDOL tonight.
I think Elliott blew it, and not because he gave bad performances but he simply gave accomplished performances without any "showoff" moments and used songs which would be much less familiar with the general public, a problem which has plagued him for much of the season. While I could appreciate the quality, I'm not sure without a "wow" factor he's going to make it into the finals. I know *I* voted for him for two hours solid, but the one time I tried everyone's three lines each, they were ALL busy. So, everyone's voting heavily this close to the end.
Katharine had the best vocal of the night ("Over the Rainbow," but it wasn't the revelation the judges seemed to think it was. She overdid the melisma with it as well) and also the worst vocal of the night (her first song where she missed the key change and had her usual screechy high notes).
Taylor by far had the most confident air about him; I'd truly be shocked if he didn't make it to the finals.
Since Simon went on TV last night and proclaimed Taylor and Katharine as the probable and deserving finalists, it didn't surprise me that he overpraised her tonight to aid her so he could look right.
