I have no favorite Kander and Ebb songs.

That is all.

LOL, you didn’t really thinks we would change the signs no matter what dog we got.

Currently the adoption date is Sept. 23rd.

Tomovoz-Happy 100th to your father!  Will the local paper make a fuss over him?

MBarnum, for starters we don’t want dog food with either corn or wheat in it.  Email us what you are feeding Bosco & I’ll write more.

I'm back from a wonderful luncheon with Alison Fox.  She reminds me a great deal of Edna Mae Oliver, and that alone should endear her to several of the DRs.  We had a long discussion of megalomaniac conductors, would-be scholars, and other pompous frauds, sometimes all combined in the same person, in the music business, not to mention catching up on the past four years since we last saw each other.

I am now doing laundry and working on a chart for Ms Klea Blackhurst.

Dear Esteemed, opulent, glamorous, willowy & sensual BK --

Glad your jog went joggingly, and that the Curtains opening last night turned out to be an enjoyable evening.  A lot of people aren't aware that aside from being a very good actor, David Pierce is also a very accomplished musician on the same instrument that I play.  Small World ! (cue Herbie).....

The day is getting away from me.  Quick, Watson, the day!  Shortly I shall toddle over to Jerry's Deli to meet with Miss Joan Ryan, and then I have to write at least a page or two.  Then I have to decide whether to go to this play tonight - I'm really on the fence about it.

Dear BK -- perched on a fence.....caught in a conundrum.....waffling in a cul-de-sac ;  all very troubling places to be.  It is enough to make one reticent....oh yes, I am reticent at this time.

I think my 2 favorites K&E songs are A Quiet Thing, and Maybe This Time.  I do also love "When You're Good To Mama"....especially the line "...pepper my ragout...." .

I can't believe I left of "You Could Never Shame Me." I had it the last time we did a Kander and Ebb topic, but it slipped my mind this morning. Argh!

Lunch ran long, so I only had time for two video ventures this afternoon:

First up was another WILD WILD WEST episode, this one involving a Chinese princess under threat of abduction. Not one of the better episodes from the first season.

And then HOLIDAY IN MEXICO. Talk about a top-heavy movie! They've got Walter Pidgeon, Jane Powell, Jose Iturbi, Roddy McDowall, Xavier Cugat, AND Ilona Massey: two musicians, two sopranos, and two parallel love stories. I'm surprised Carmen Miranda didn't pop over from Fox! But she wouldn't arrive until the next year for A DATE WITH JUDY.

Ilona Massey may have been a plum for MGM executives to try to pick (allegedly several chased her before her marriage), but she didn't have much screen presence or charisma that I can see.

Two of my favourite Kander/Ebb songs:

The Butterfly
and Happy Birthday, in the "Zorba!" version I saw, many years ago, danced and sung by Taina Elg. It was so moving that one could not help but cry!

SUESSICAL opens tonight and I am selling tickets and then cleaning up....but then I don't have to do ANYTHING about it again until NEXT Thursday, when I will be doing the same thing.

Hopefully there won't be too many crazy people at the box office tonight.

DR JRand, are you spelling "Seussical" wrong on purpose?  Sorry to be bitchy!

Wow it must be a slow news day here at HHW.

Nothing much for me to report either.  The guys with the machine guns were out and about again.

Safe travel vibes to DR T-Punk and Rodzinski.  I also wish I could be there to hear your band.  I am very green with envy of those who will be there in October.

Anyone know where I can get the Danish and Japanese cast recordings of "Miss Saigon" - I've tried all the normal suspects.

Guess I'll head down to clean the bedroom areas, read some more about Tab Hunter's life and times, and then on for a night of TV episodes. I still have some of HOLIDAY IN MEXICO to finish, too.

Thanks Dr Francois, I need to check the euro-usd exchange as The Sound of Music shop in Germany has it for 53,00 euro.  Not sure which is the best rate.
