Happy Birthday, DR Donna!
I'm still tasting the delicious flavors from last night's dinner party (and smiling at some of the conversation about string theory and the unnatural coupling of cute dogs and stuffed sheep.)
I was up at 5 AM this morning to get ready for my volunteer gig at the annual Ovarian Cancer Walk. Had to be there by 6:30 - but needed to get ready and walk and feed the hound before I left.
Registering the Walkers/Runners is, I think, more exhausting than walking. Big line-ups and lots of paperwork, taking money, credit cards, checks. One of these years I'll do the walk/run. TThe woman sitting at my table registering walkers lost her beautiful 20-year-old daughter to the disease just a few months ago. And there she was, doing work, busy, smiling. The abillity of people to endure and carry on is astonishing and humbling. There were dozens of people walking in her daughter's honor -- her photo and name pinned on their T-shirts.
