My real inspiration for starting to clean and work on the house again was watching the documentary of Grey Gardens. My house is in really good shape, but watching that really made me want to take care of my house!

And don't forget DR Ginny -- I actually trimmed a few bushes and threw away leaves earlier today.  Whew.......the frantic pace is overwhelming... ;)

I started the coffee............. oh and I cleaned the microwave.

TAR has a really interesting mix of people this time. I think I'm going to like them.

No spoilers yet, just wanted to say I really enjoyed TAR's opening epiosode.  I think I'm going to enjoy this season a lot. There are only one or two teams that annoy me.

Well, I can talk to myself without being on the internet, so guess I'll sign off.

I won't be watching THE AMAZING RACE, but I look forward to reading the thoughts of various DRs here who do watch it. That's how I keep up with the events of the show.

I went back down to finish the Katharine Hepburn segment of the DIck Cavett interview. I also watched the outtakes and reaction shot taping which was also very interesting. At one point, Kate reminded Dick to ask her about George Cukor, and he snapped his fingers saying how much he was looking forward to doing that. Of course, he never did.

I do have on videotape two interviews Cavett did with George Cukor so I guess that makes up for it a little bit.

Next, I watched the Fred Astaire interview. I had vivid memories of this one. He sang several medleys of his old hits and did some dancing, too. He was never a very responsive interview subject, nothing like the other interview subjects I watched tonight.

Tomovoz, you know that your friend, Peter, will be in my thoughts and prayers not only before you leave on your trip; but during the entire time you are visiting The Americas.

The Bette Davis interview was not the one I was expecting (an appearance where she sang "Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte" with Barry Manilow with hair past his shoulders and weighing about 80 pounds accompanying her was the one I thought this would be). A mesmerizing 90 minute interview. One wished it would never end.

Next came the interviews with Debbie Reynolds and Groucho Marx. Debbie hadn't lost her fortune yet, so she seemed on top of the world (they talked about the MGM auction). Groucho was, as always, supremely witty if a bit slower in delivery at this stage of his life. His companion Erin Fleming appeared on the show with him.

I ended the evening with an interview with Kirk Douglas which I had never seen before. Interesting comments from him. I very much enjoyed what he had to say, but I yearned for more stories about his big studio days in Hollywood. He spent more time talking about his most recent pictures A GUNFIGHT and LIGHT AT THE EDGE OFTHE WORLD.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VIBES FOR PETER & HIS FAMILY AND TRAVEL VIBES FOR DR TOMOVOZ & COLIN! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
[/move]
I am at the end of a fantastic day:  DR FJL and Skip invited me over for a birthday dinner, which was one of the most wonderful meals I've ever encountered and a splendid showing of Skip's culinary skills:  perfect roast chicken, corn on the cob, fresh green beans and the most lucious chocolate mousse topped with grated white chocolate.  The champagne was tasty and the dinner wine absolutely vin extraordinaire!  The company of such cultivated, generous, witty and erudite gentlemen was nearly the cherry on the sundae.  The coup de grace was a ticket to MARY POPPINS, which I will attend with them on Oct. 25.  Thank you again, gentlemen!
Then, I drunkenly rambled to the theatre for the Singing Nun; a new sound man was brought in tonight and the sound was excellent.  I will catch up on the posts and fall over.
Any spare vibes would be appreciated for my friend Peter who is fighting (the problem is he is not fighting) the dreaded HIV and is hospitalised at the moment. I'm off to visit him. He is only 41, has a 12 year old daughter and has much to live for - if only the cycle can be broken.
Unless I totally missed something (which is entirely possible), there isn't anything on TV that I want to watch.  So...I'm going to watch "Third Man Out."  Since I watched "Adam & Steve" last night, I will watch another movie tonight. :)
Later!
I rewatched THIRD MAN OUT the other day and really enjoyed it the second time even knowing all of its twists. Just a pleasure to see the actors working so confidently. It may have had a small budget, but it didn't stop these talented craftsmen from turning out a very polished production.
Thank you Laura, George, Matt and Jane, Ginny and Cilla. Pete was a little better today and has at least eaten something. The hospital is excellent and the staff wonderfully supportive of patients and families.
That's good news for today, Tomovoz. It is very difficult to have good friends who are ill. I've been there.
I notice DR Pogue is present. I though of him the past three days while I have been reading Caleb Carr's "The Italian Secretary: - a Further Adventure of Sherlock Holmes.
It's not great, or particularly inspired, but a very pleasent page turner for an autumn evening.
