I had a neat thing happen in the Theatre collection today. My librarian friend Bob made a reference to a library website for historic newspapers. I had no knowledge of this, but now I am in the know.
At any rate, an investigation of the Chicago Tribune today gave me the final ruling on the July 1903 plagiarism suit filed by Mrs Alice Riley of Evanston, IL against Fred Hamlin, producer, Julian Mitchell, director, Glen MacDonough, librettist, and Victor Herbert, composer,of BABES IN TOYLAND. I've had law clerks in Chicago looking for 4 years now on the verdict, and I found it at the library!
