I used to "decorate" our common areas in our division for the holidays.
It was always something tasteful...a touch here, a dab there. Color, some sparkle, and every year it was different.
Last year, a newer co-worker, who had really loved what I'd done the year before, decided she wanted to do the decorating.
Fine by me.
Trouble is, when she brought everything in, she expected me to drop everything and assist her in her grand scheme.
I asked her if she remembered how much help I requested the year before. She admitted she didn't recall me asking for help.
And that's when I told her I didn't expect to "help" her. If she has a vision, she can put it out there. I used to come in over a weekend to decorate. She wanted to do it during the work day (we can finish in an hour if you help).
No.
I don't mind someone else doing it. When I was doing the decorating, it was because nothing was being done by anyone else. If someone else wants to do it, though, I want them to do it.
