I'm sure the problem comes when you want to SAVE something you've recorded to a more permanent format.

OK...a little scared now.

During my lunch, I went to see the hair stylist, and despite everyone's best advice, I said, "Surprise me!"

So now I've got new "product" to deal with...a delightful concoction called defining whip, which was described to be as something in between a cream and a mousse.

Oh, boy...    :-\

Should we now call you whipsaw instead of singdaw?

After defining whip, can you use it in a sentence?

YOU, DR FJL, may call me whatever you like.

Because...you're special.

Well, they tell me it can record up to 2 other shows [while I'm watching a third], and that it can hold up to 100 hours of non-HD programming.

So that sounds pretty good, right?

OH!  You got the one with the extra receiver!  For us, we can only record and watch two shows at the same time.  However, we can record two shows while watching another show that's already stored in the DVR.  We can't record two shows while watching a third one "live".

I guess your DVR could beat up my DVR.  ;)

Sure.

Well, I did see MEDIUM, and I guess I'm lost as to what made it a controversial episode for you, DR FJL.

Let me say that in one area I was completely fooled, but I fooled myself.

I was totally convinced that the entire episode was going to be a long dream Allison was having about her secret being revealed, and that she'd wake up with all the right answers but her secret would still be safe.

I continued to think this until the very end of the episode also because Devalos and Scanlon were so harsh with her, a woman who has saved their bacon time and again. Over and over, they doubt her, and she's always been right in the end. But over and over, they seem to get disappointed when her visions don't come out exactly as seen instead of waiting for pieces of the puzzle to drop into place.

Frankly, once I realized it wasn't all a dream, I was DELIGHTED with Allison's attitude at the end of the show. She had been treated like DIRT by those she considered her friends. Basically, she was on her own to do whatever she could to get to the bottom of the crime.

You want to be disappointed by someone? Let's put Devalos and Scanlon on the hot seat. They both were SCHMUCKS for leaving her body for the buzzards to pick apart. I have never been more disappointed by two characters in a show in my life. To hell with the both of THEM.

CSI: NY had one of the best episodes of the season despite having an outlandish premise of the CSI headquarters being taken over so easily by a group of IRA gangsters out to recover their coke and weaponry that was being stores at CSI.

But the three agents working on the inside being able to befuddle the bad guys using their wits and their skills science instead of guns was COOL. And the two CSIs in the field also had to use their wits to eventually get the upper hand.

A very impressively written, acted, and directed episode to ring down a good season.

Only if you have no means of recording it to a more permanent format, such as CD-R.

Next came THE SOPRANOS from Sunday night. Wow! BIG surprise near the opening, with the rest of the episode playing off rather as expected.

AJ has something of a conscience? Who would have imagined such a thing?

...And didn't Melinda have back-up singers during "I'm A Woman"?

Not drowning her out to the extent that you couldn't tell who was singing what.

But yes, whoever is mixing the sound for this show needs to have his ears examined.

Yes, I was also going to post that GREY'S ANATOMY will go fifteen minutes past the hour tonight. Then the LOST special will finish out prime time on ABC.

And frankly, for a show that has a plot as convoluted as LOST, I'm appreciative of any help the producers want to give me to keep all the plots and threads straight.

I completed my afternoon viewing with about twenty more minutes of TO CATCH A THIEF. I will probably finish it before prime time begins tonight.

For any fans of Black Orpheus (and you know who you are), EMI Odeon has finally released on CD the 1956 "cast album" of the original Vinicius/Jobim theater piece that was the basis for the film.  It features some of the same music in nascent form that made it into the film, as well as one of the first (if not the first) recordings of "Someone to Light Up My Life."  Beautiful stuff.  Musicas de Orfeu da Conceicao.

Thanks for your MEDIUM thoughts, MattH (and for yours earlier, Jennifer).

Among other things, regarding the attitude at the end, I felt that the attitude was unfeeling, as if to say "my pride and emotional well-being is more important than someone else's life."  While for most people in real life that would be the case, I'm bothered by that attitude on this particular character.   And I felt the writers of the episode truly believe that to be the case.  After the comments from both of you, i guess I'll have to watch again - maybe I misunderstood the ending.

Scanlon did sneak her into the crime-tape sealed hotel room - showing he still had faith in her; without his help she would have been unable to resolve the situation.

Devalos also did nothing to stick up for himself!

It's been QUITE the chore avoiding the "Medium" discussions today.

I've taped it, but haven't yet watched it.

Would appreciate SPOILER headers on further revelations today, please.

I'm caught up from last night.

I have to say it, because it ought to be said:

I'm appalled at certain insensitive remarks posted last night under the guise of humor.

Truly stunned, actually.
