I hasve two books on Novello, but I honestly don't knpow where they are at the moment! One's mostly photographs with a bit of text and the other's a rather cautious biography from the early 1980s, as I recall.I looked on Amazon.com and there are a couple of new ones, one by James Harding - might be a reprint - whose books on Brithish musicals after Sir Arthur Sullivan, French operetta, and Jacques Offenbach I recommend highly.
The mailman must wonder about all these exotic packages.
In urgent International developments...People magazine's annual "hottest bachelors" issue hits newstands today...
So that's where DR Jose was taking off to in his New Balance running shoes (and trying to make it sound like he just going for a jog in the park ... )
except to say .. that's not fair, I want exotic packages delivered at my house...
THanks for the suggestions. Naturally, I would want one that doesn't "hide in the shadows" about his personal life. I'll do an Amazon search later this morning.
If that doesn't satisfy you, consider taking a trip to exotic locales.
Or that "reservoir" place he mentions...and about which some of us have major suspicions.
DR Elmore: Are you/were you/have you ever been a fan of the TV series "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer"?
Or, DR Miss Karen, ask MBarnum where he does all his shopping.
There were two bios published right after his death in 1951. Both were circumspect with certain aspects of his life. Here is a list of books about him. Even though the two books from 1951 don't give you the entire story they are well done (IMHO) and worth a read if you can find them. We got them from another friend/fan of Novello.Ivor BooksMary Ellis also worked extensively with Ivor and she writes about it in her biography, Mary Ellis, Those Dancing Years: The Autobiography of Mary Ellis, John Murray, 1982.
Now that I have risen and am shining
Jose is an expert on reservoirs. He's always giving people reservoir tips.
