One thing that makes my eyes well up each and every time is the finale/final track of the OBC of The Secret Garden.

Monday morning greetings!  Today's the last of my 6-in-a-row off and I'm waiting for a call from a girlfriend about lunch plans.  It's very rainy here in SW Ohio.

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Blowin' in the Wind" give me pause. I love them both, and I won't say they make me cry exactly, but they do stir emotions deep within.

My father bough lots and lots of records when we were growing up. There were very few hits from the Hit Parade that we didn't have. I can remember hearing "Volare" for the first time and making sure he was going to buy it. We eventually had the original, the Dean Martin, and the McGuire Sisters versions.

There were two major record stores in the little town where I lived, but I remember mostly my dad buying records in the record department of a big department store in Charlotte (these were the stores that had listening booths; oh, such memories!). He drove to Charlotte every Tuesday on business, and in the summer and on holidays when I was home, I went with him, so I often bought records (show albums, of course) in Charlotte, too. Only, by the time I had money and could buy my own music, I'd go to Record City which had a great cast album and soundtrack section.

Today, I'll be finishing WITH A SONG IN MY HEART. I'll watch last night's DEXTER. Then, I'll finish disc 1 in the MURDER, SHE WROTE box (there are two episodes left on disc 1).

Tonight, I think I'll watch STRANGER THAN FICTION on Blu-ray before prime time starts.

New episodes tonight of my NBC favorites along with a new CSI: MIAMI. Fox is rerunning a BONES episode that I will also record to watch tomorrow.

45's that i had to buy immediately and listen to over and over:

One Bad Apple, sung by the Osmond Brothers, really caught me and I think that was one of the first 45's I ever bought and listened to again and again.  Others that I remember well are Turn the Beat Around (Vickie Sue Robinson), More More More (Andrea True), Sugar Sugar (The Archies), Don't Cry Out Loud (Melissa Mancehster), Born to Be Alive (Patrick Hernandez?)

There are many where I bought the album, though.

Good morning all!

Vibes to DR Vixmom for continued employment!  I understand totally!

Vibes to DR Jose for travel!

Vibes to DR TCB—I hope your feeling better!

Vibes to all others just because!

I was a real grump last night.  I was tired of coughing all day and I just felt like I was in a bad mood for no real reason.

Thanks for the phone call, DR Jane.  That cheered me right up.  I guess being in the house by myself for so many hours isn’t really good for me.  I need to hear the sound of another voice.

I hate to say it but I think I am more then ready to go back to work.   :o ;)

We always had lots of 45's around our house.  Mostly C & W because my dad love it.

I do remember the Osmonds and bought most all of their albums on 8 track.   That was back went 8 tracks were the thing.  I regret that I did that because it's old tech now.  I don't even know where they are or where I would even get an 8 track player if I could find them.

I should have bought albums.

I'm thrilled that Debi is posting.  I just want to warn her to not expect the kind of people on other boards that you find here.

There are boards out there that are just hateful and people who take joy in hurting others.  Not here, thank goodness.   HHW is an oasis in the desert  of cyberspace.

DR FJL "Born to Be Alive" was indeed by Patrick Hernandez - and my friend Brad and I performed a jazz routine to that song on The Jerry Lewis Telethon one September....I am sure Donations went UP during those minutes.

DR MATTH I think you will like the extras on WITH A SONG IN MY HEART, lots of photos of Jane Froman and lots of "what happened next" information.  And some nice interview footage with the woman who runs the Froman Museum in Missouri and some friends of Jane's.

Aren't you getting philosophical so early in the day? Call him Socrates! (sorry, DR MBarnum! I know you thought Socrates was a role played in a tunic by Steve Reeves)

And pronounced SEW-KRAITZ!

Hi, DR Danise.  Hope you're feeling better today.

Thank you, DR Ginny.  I am.  I don't know what my problem was last night but I feel more cheerful today.   :D

I wish we could "do lunch".  I'm free-- :)

TOD

The only one that I can remember is a 45 I found while going through my records at my parents home last month.

It was by Chrystal Gayle & Garry Morris who sang the theme song for the old soap Another World at one point.

Hopefully, my Blu-ray edition of HAIRSPRAY will be here today. If it is, I'll watch that tonight rather than STRANGER THAN FICTION. If not, plans will stay on schedule.

I've been looking at some of the cyber deals.

I'm real tempted by one of the HD TV's I saw on Best Buys site:

Any thoughts?

And the word of the day is: LAGNIAPPE!

WOD:  If I may quote myself--this final line came from a poem I wrote in high school, the rest of which I can't recall, but which was part of the packet which won me the National Council of Teachers of English award, which got me a free-ride scholarship to the school of my choice (so why in h*** did I choose the University of Utah?--long story):

the last damnable lagniappe in Pandora's box

TOD:
I bought my first 45s at Valu-Mart in Bellevue, the suburb of Seattle, not the mental institution, though it was hard to tell them apart sometimes.  :)  My first two 45s were "Scarborough Fair" by Brasil '66 and "Hey Jude" b/w "Revolution" by some band with an apple on their label.  My mother forbade me to play "Revolution" when she was in the house.

MattH will probably have loads to say, but I've personally been told that the rear projection units don't give as focused a picture as the regular LCDs.

That book was passed around among certain pre-pubescent boys due to its frequently explicit subject matter.  Not that I was one of them or anything.
