Actually, my thought was if they want to save films why don't they go after those that are more in danger of becoming lost, rather then those that are so easily found?

I mean really, there are probably a couple of rare June Kenney movies sitting in someones basement, just rotting away.

Work schedule today:  from 4pm to 10pm, self-scan monitor.

Work schedule tomorrow: from 9:15am to 3:15pm, regular register.

Which gives me less than twelve hours to get home, cook dindin for myself and derHighness, get to sleep, get up, and get back to work.

Union regulations state that the store only has to give me eight hours between shifts.  (Fortunately, Dixie doesn't do that to people... very often.)

I can only imagine what a b***h this is like for workers who live an hour away from their jobsite.

Aren't unions wonderful?

(Did Bette Davis ever actually say "Peter, Peter, Peter?" Is it a legend the way cary grant apparently never actually siad "Judy, Judy, Judy.")

Unfortunately, Barnum, a lot of the films that are selected get on the list because they are well known, more than for their need of preservation.  The idea is to encourage the voluntary preservation of the lesser-known titles, I suppose, but if all we hear about is what is known...

And if all the younger crowd knows about is what has been released in the last five years...

For example, one time at the store Maureen McGovern's voice was crackling over the muzak "There's got to be a morning after," and I commented to Rachel, another checker, that it was from The Poseidon Adventure, and she gave me a strange look.  "I don't think so," she replied.  It turned out that she didn't even know that Poseidon was a remake.

"Well, how can you expect me to know about all that old stuff?" she snorted.  (Rachel is about 20 years old, if that.)

(She's also a tad homophobic.   :P)
