There will be a ticker tape parade this late morning/early afternoon for the NY Giants. The city will be a madhouse.

And it is Super Fat Tuesday!
I hadn't thought of it as political commentary before, but your reminding us of it being Super Fat Tuesday made me think of the following lyric from A New Brain.

The bad trait will always predominate.
Bad trait is certain to win.
The bad trait will always predominate.
That is the law of genetics according to Schwinn!

Smart or Dumb.
The dumb will predominate.
Fat or thin.
The fat will predominate.
Lazy or not lazy.
The lazy will predominate.
We have lousy esthetics.

That's scary, DR SWW.

Another DR gave us that name for today.....on Saturday, I think...it may have been DR CILLA LIZ or DR JOSE.....my memory is fuzzy.

Off to work.

Today, at work, we get to meet our new store manager.

Mark, the manager who came in and has been running the store since Carol retired, is moving to another store.

A fellow who has been at that other store is moving over here.

I'm not entirely clear on why the bumps are being made.

I'll just wear my red shirt and try to blend into the background.

For those who enjoy things Whovian, this from the Sci-Fi Wire

Quote
Fourth Who, New Sarah Due

SCI FI Channel has acquired the fourth season of Doctor Who and its hit spinoff series The Sarah Jane Adventures from BBC Worldwide America. Both series are slated to premiere on SCI FI in April.

The Sarah Jane Adventures is written and produced by the same creative team behind Doctor Who, including multiple-award-winning writer Russell T. Davies. The series centers on Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen), former companion to the Doctor, who investigates offbeat mysteries with her young friends Maria, Luke and Clyde.

The fourth season of Doctor Who, meanwhile, brings back star David Tennant as the 10th Timelord, joined by a new companion, Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), who reprises her role from the previous Christmas special. The Doctor's previous companion, Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman), also makes a triumphant return in the middle of season four.

I have not yet voted today.

Der B is fast asleep (or is that slow?), and since we usually go to the polls together I have not yet gone.

But I shall.  Oh, yes, I shall!

Correction.

Der Brucer likes rice pudding.  I don't get the attraction.

End of sequel.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I've already showered, dressed, made breakfast (egg white omelet, whole grain English Muffin), and consumed said breakfast which I made.  So, I have a bit to browse and read before I wash my dishes and head down to the rehearsal studio for today's batch of auditions.

DR elmore - I will say right now that I will most likely be abstaining from margaritas tonight since I will be playing auditions tomorrow.  There's also a slim chance I may be seeing a show tonight too - some quasi-last-minute-possibly-available ticket to a long-running-always-sold-out show.  We shall see.  But, again, I will call you once I know what time I will be getting out.  At least since it's a Chorus Call, we can't go past 5:00.  So, I'll give a look at the sign-up list when I get there in an hour or so, and give you a ring.

I have a question that maybe some PROJECT RUNWAY fan can help me with.

I have never seen season 1.

They are airing it here now. It airs M-F every night for 2 weeks.

Anyhow last night the channel/DVR went off and i am missing the last 35 minutes (season 1 episode 6)(called Making A Splash).

I found this really detailed recap at television without pity that i am going to read:
http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/Shows/Project-Runway/Stories/Making-A-Splash

But I would really like to see the runway show, and the final swimsuits (luckily i sort of got to see most of them).

Does anyone know if (and rememeber i am outside the US) any of the season 1 episodes are online? Or even just the runway and comments?

Thanks!

As for the Topic of the Day...

Growing up, rice was our "daily bread" so to speak.  Steamed rice with dinner.  Which usually got made into fried rice the following day with breakfast, lunch and/or dinner.  -But even when my parents would make "leftover fried rice", they would always have another batch bubbling away in the rice cooker.

I'd say my favorite rice dish is the Southern Staple, Broccoli-Cheese-Rice Casserole.  A girl I went to college with would always make it for parties, and it was always the first thing to disappear off the table.  I believe her ratio of cheese to rice was almost 2-to-1. ;)

I also like the "rice cakes" that are served in Thai restaurants - although, there are also Chinese and Middle-Eastern variations.  It's where they take the rice that stuck to the bottom of the pot, pull it up in one piece (hopefully), then fry it up in oil until it's nice and puffy.  A true rice cake.  A fellow studio-mate of mine in college would make them up, and she would sprinkle sugar over them as soon as they came out of the oil.  YUM!

And as for rice pudding... LOVE IT!

And for those of you who don't think they like rice pudding, well, you'll just have to get you and your butt-cheeks to NYC, and head HERE.  I've converted many a former-rice-pudding-disliker after taking them through their doors.  :)

Rice cakes are currently on Aisle 10-A, left hand side, about half-way down, on the lower two shelves.

Subject to change, of course.
