As for the Topic of the Day...
Growing up, rice was our "daily bread" so to speak. Steamed rice with dinner. Which usually got made into fried rice the following day with breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. -But even when my parents would make "leftover fried rice", they would always have another batch bubbling away in the rice cooker.
I'd say my favorite rice dish is the Southern Staple, Broccoli-Cheese-Rice Casserole. A girl I went to college with would always make it for parties, and it was always the first thing to disappear off the table. I believe her ratio of cheese to rice was almost 2-to-1.

I also like the "rice cakes" that are served in Thai restaurants - although, there are also Chinese and Middle-Eastern variations. It's where they take the rice that stuck to the bottom of the pot, pull it up in one piece (hopefully), then fry it up in oil until it's nice and puffy. A true rice cake. A fellow studio-mate of mine in college would make them up, and she would sprinkle sugar over them as soon as they came out of the oil. YUM!
