Thank you, BK.

I've finally found somebody else who agrees with me that GRAND ILLUSION is not the greatest thing since chopped liver.

And, here I thought that I was alone out there is the world.

Favorite TV cop shows:

The early years:

DRAGNET & RAQCKET SQUAD  (Years later, Reed Hadley was a publicity client of mine.)

The 1970s:

THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO (I've been watchinng these again on DVD and, unfortunately, they do not hold up that well.)

The 90s:

NYPD BLUE (I love this show.  Never missed an episode.  I wish they'd put more seasons out on DVD.)

Current or Recent:

THE SHIELD and THE WIRE (2 of the best shows ever on TV)

Skip brought a yummy tart from his cooking class last night, which was about regional French cooking from Normandy.

(and no, "tart" is not a euphemism)

I had a brain fart last night and kept referring to BK's December benefit in NYC as "Back to Bacharach" when it is of course "Bacharach to the Future."

I'm sure I used the right name when I talked to Ann Miner about the press release, though.

Good morning, all! DR JRand58, I am so sorry about the death of your friend. I read your notes about him tyhis morning, and I hope that the service for him is more a joyful celebration of his 42 years than a mournful farewell.

I'm off to Toyland very shortly to deal with things that were put off for the past weeks because of another's commitment, hopefully organize what work needs to be accomplished in the near future, and learn the status of various parts of two different jobs.

DR MattH, I agree with you completely about GHOST WHISPERER, and its plot this week reminded me of a cautionary warning for children against predators although I thought the teenager in danger was such a pill she deserved what her stupidity brought on. It was nice to see my old acquaintance Raphael Sbarge, whom I haven't seen sicne he did the AH WILDERNESS at Lincoln Center. I wished afterwards, though, that I'd realized CRUSOE was on for two hours.

I disagree about LIFE, which gets a plea for viewers in this week's ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I loved the Arkin-career storyline, especially when the students were all noisily typing on their keyboards, and I thnk the show's a great ride, although I do miss the creepy Robin Weigert and think Donal Logue's character is a waste of writing and space.

Thanks to all DRs for their thoughts last night and this morning.....  I have my suit pressed and have chosen my tie and written my paper....and yes it will be a celebration and a fun time for remembering.  I only have to talk about our time in the theater, so how could it not be FUN?

And the word of the day is: ACRITOCHROMACY!

There was quite a pile-up at the highway intersection the other day.  A couple of the drivers admitted they hadn't read the stop lights correctly, so I guess it was a case of the ACRITOCROMATIC leading the ACRITOCROMATIC.

I'm not a big fan of crime shows.  Der B loves 'em.

The closest I come to a crime show that I enjoy these days is Pushing Daisies.  Well, that and Eureka.

Good morning!

Briskly cool this morning, and it isn't getting out of the 60s today, so I have the house pretty well closed up. It's going to get warmer during the week, but it's going to be a chilly weekend.

I am a big fan of GRAND ILLUSION, but I've never quite gotten the worship of THE RULES OF THE GAME among Renoir's films. I always feel on the outside looking in when discussions of its greatness gets going. A film professor of mine simply worshipped THE RULES OF THE GAME.

I'll be working on LADIES OF THE STREET this afternoon, the next in the box of Mizoguchi films I'm working on. Again, I've never seen it, so these are all new experiences.
