TOD:

DVD:

A documentary (from Netflix) on the history if film in Iran. It is quite fascinating to see what Iran's cinema was like in the 50s and 60s...lots of fluffy Doris Day type comedies and plenty of action and exploitation movies.

And it is quite a contrast to see Iranian women in min-skirts and bouffant hair and then comparing that to 30 years later when they are all dressed in those not so attractive black robes and head coverings.

DVR:

Life on Mars, Survivor, The Office (if it was on this week)

CD:
Several vintage Bollywood soundtracks.

JR, you need to get the Ian McKellen version of PINEAPPLE EXPRESS--most outre.  ;)

I have a huge stack of Naxos/Opus Arte BD's I need to review, most of which I think Elmore would probably love.  I did get through a fascinating piece yesterday called AMELIA, a dance work by the La La La Human Steps (that may be one too many La's, LOL).  Incredibly interesting stuff, with a sort of neo-minimalist score set to lyrics by Lou Reed (I kid you not).  I now have a ton of operas to get through.  Am I highly cultured or what?  Just sing STRING OF PEARLS when you're around me.

Actually, the sun is shining, though it's a cold and frosty morn.

For a variety of reasons, I'm blaming Jose:  Betsy just called and has completely lost all of her keys.  She thinks she left them on the bus.  This is not good news.

I am anxious to see tonight's Ghost Whisperer. From reading the description it looks like there will be something very interesting happening tonight.

I hope she finds them.  Has she called the bus company yet?

Yes, they've dispatched the driver but he hasn't responded.  She rides the same bus every morning and he's due back at her stop around 8:30 so if she hasn't heard from Tri-Met by then, she's going to go down and hop on again and look.  Luckily there's no ID, but there are an awful lot of keys, including the "computer" keys for both cars.

QUESTION FOR OUR ESTEEMED BK!

What do you hear from Mr. Graae of late?  Are you still in touch?  Has he found better sleeping arrangements?  (Those recording studios can get awfully drafty, I hear.)

Just curious.

Well... You could check out:

JasonGraae.com

And I believe bk has mentioned running into Mr. Graae every now and then whenever he's happened to be in NYC.  I even think that DRs Laura, Michael S and ArnoldMBrockman have seen him in concert over the past year.  I do remember seeing him at The York last year in an evening of music by Larry Grossman.

DR TCB - I love Streisand, but early Streisand.  Now she's mostly just self-indulgent.

I love her, too...right up to her first Broadway album.

I'm so glad, DR JMK.  I know from personal experience that those car remotes are VERY expensive to replace.    :P

It was my impression that Mr. Graae lives near Los Angeles now.

Hello, everyone.

Great news on the lost-but-now-found keys!

Lovely feedback for Vixmom on the Vixter. But was there ever any doubt??  ;)

I know--the one for our 2002 Axiom fell apart on me about a year ago and I called to get a new one and they said $160.  I laughed quietly to myself, got a piece of tape, taped the old one back together and it's still going strong.  I can only imagine what the brand new one for the Chevy would have gone for.

I do feel that there's someone somewhere who can help Danise. Yes, these things are commonplace, but that doesn't mean there are no remedies.

I've had problems with MANY contractors. I find that most will succumb to pressure. Few people look forward to going to court. Unfortunately, many of us feel uncomfortable standing up for ourselves, but that's exactly what you have to do.

Michael S, your mother was very lucky she could cut her losses & move on.  Having lived in 9 homes we too have had our share of charming & useless contractors.  We almost hired one here, thankfully we went with someone else.
