Good morning, Dear Readers.
The evening with Jonathan Schwartz was lovely. He arrived a bit late - although he didn't mention it to the crowd, the car he was riding in was side-swiped in NYC. He was OK, and he just took a taxi out to the Westchester suburbs. The format of the evening was an ad-lib commentary on American Standards, sort of like he does on his radio show, illustrated with songs [he brought his accompanist, Tony Monte]. His singing is actually pretty enjoyable, and of course the stories he told were great. He knew anybody who's anybody. He also read short excerpts from his memoir and took audience questions. Started around 8:30 and finished around 11:00 PM with an intermission. All in all a most enjoyable evening.
