As I was entering the city this morning, I spied a blimp.

On its side....."Up"!

It held my attention, and the attention of several other drivers around me, as I drove around Lake Merritt.

And ultimately into Lake Merritt.   ;D

You may all thank me later for my correct prediction vis a vis Lost's finale.

I think I'm starting to see through the show's machinations at a higher rate than I used to--I also guessed early into the episode what was in "the box."

In other news...

Tomorrow we're having lunch with yet another batch of relatives.  After lunch, we're planning another shopping excursion, and then it's onto dinner with my Mom's brother, Diko.  And then at 4:30am Manila time on Saturday morning, we shall be heading to the airport to begin the long flights home.

It is currently 11:12PM here in Manila.  I am in a Starbucks.  It is packed!  Packed to the point where some people are trying "hint" that I should give up my small table so that their whole group can sit down.  Well... I already "gave up" my other chair... And since they've already put together four(!) other tables... Well... ;)

Yes, there MUST be a DARNA somewhere!

Do you want the classic Darna? or the new-fangled - circa 2005 - Darna?

Classic Darna, please! Or any other Filipiono horror or sci fi oldies that look like fun! You know...kulture!

BK, when I was looking to upgrade to an LCD or Plasma TV one of the things that was very important to me was a TV that had minimal, if any, of that motion blurring.

The clerk who helped me steared me towards the Toshiba LCD which I now have, and I have not experienced any blurring.

One of the selling points for that particular model at the store was the fact that it had little to no blurring when the camera would pan. And they had set up a little display to show the difference.

Also, BK, did you look at reviews for the model that you bought. That will give you an idea as to whether the blurring is normal with that particular model or not.

OK - I believe I'm going to go ahead and free up this table and head back to the apartment.  Sleep is much needed at this point.

Goodnight.

"LOST" SPOILAGE

You may all thank me later for my correct prediction vis a vis Lost's finale.

I think I'm starting to see through the show's machinations at a higher rate than I used to--I also guessed early into the episode what was in "the box."

Guessing what most of us expected would happen?   :D   I think every fan of "Lost" believed the bomb would be used.    Now if you really want to exploit your "see-through-the-show's-machinations", give us an accurate prediction of the aftermath.   Given the nature of the anomaly that was released, the actual effect of Juliet's triggering of the bomb isn't known yet.  It may be that one cancelled out the other.  Oh!  The joys of speculation.   Dldklj ;lj;l kjasdfklj;adsf;lkjas;lkfj ;l;l kajsdfouihawpguhl;kjsgajhas;lkjas;dlfkj as;ldfj a;lskjf ;lkrtwh;lkjfj ;lajDAW is really Singdaw but he disquises that fact by wearing different glasses. lkjlkj a;lkj aslkdfj ;lkj

I've got a Panasonic plasma TV.  Haven't seen any blurring at all.

Well we know it's the guy in the prelude, but as to whom exactly that is, I have no clew.  :)

Samsung is supposed to to have the least blurring of any LCD.

Frankly, I haven't watched any Blu-Ray titles on my new set yet, but my regular DVDs look spectacular.

With the older titles, I don't want to lose the grain that helps make a film a film.  I'm told that the Blu-Ray version of PATTON is virtually without grain and looks terrible.

PATTON, THE LONGEST DAY, and (especially) GANGS OF NEW YORK are the biggest culporits of this DNR overenhancement on Blu-ray.

The STAR TREK 3 and 4 that I just finished reviewing also have it but to a lesser degree than GANGS OF THE NEW YORK.

My classic movies on DVD really look great on w/the Blu-Ray player and Hi=Def screen.  I have no intention of replacing them with Blu-Ray versions.
