I was supposed to have my PET scan yesterday - that's the full body scan that will give us a definative answer as to the presence of any cancer cells -  unfortunately the machine broke down  and they had to reschedule me for next Wednesday instead.

Saturday I took the Vixter and three of her friends to NYC to celebrate her sixteenth birthday

We started out by lunching at John's pizza which the girls all loved

then we walked up to the New Stages Theatre to see AltarBoyz

Lunch and the walk took less time than I had expected so we had about a half hour to spend before we went into the theatre - it turns out that the theatre is right next to that lovely little park where many of us gathered for a visit during the NYMF 2 years ago

the girls amused themselves by singing and playing with a puppy that a nice man  was walking.

Then we went into the show - I had gotten a great deal with a promo code and got $30 seats and they were 4th row center orchestra - the girls were thrilled and then the Altarboyz came out... oh my!  Each one was better looking than the next and the cutest ones had the tightest jeans and there was an abundance of hip wiggling onthat stage --
you were right, Jose - it was a perfect show for four 16 year old gilrs - they LOVED it!

bk,

Do you have a spare set of rabbit ears/antenna sitting around your house? I ask because if you do, you need to hook them up and let your TV's built in digital tuner pull in some high definition television broadcasts. (Unless you changed your dish set-up, you're not currently receiving high def from disc, so you'd need to use an indoor antenna to pull in local HD broadcasts from various LA stations.

You keep blaming this look on Blu-ray, and I think you need to consider that you haven't seen what high def broadcasting looks like on your set. Once you see that and then compare a Blu-ray film to it, you'd be better able to judge if Blu-ray is your problem or if it's merely that you haven't seen enough high definition on a large screen to be used to it yet.

After the show we went to the stage door - each of the actors came out and they were all very pleasant and chatty - they signed all the girls programs and posed for pictures

all in all a very successful day!

After the show we walked down Broadway back towards Time Square - the girls did some shopping in Colony Records and we went by the theatre where West Side Story was playing but by time we arrived there the show had already been out for a while so we did not run into BK though the Vixter and I kept looking out for him.

I managed to watch six more GUNSMOKE episodes before the start of prime time TV tonight. I really enjoyed all of them.

This was the season that marked GUNSMOKE's first of four years in succession reign as the #1 show on TV.

Had a good time with UGLY BETTY tonight though the resolution of the various plots all seemed to happen very quickly.

And, I ended the evening with the two hour GREY'S ANATOMY which really put me through the wringer. What a roller coaster ride tonight!

And I would like to award Emmys to about five of the actors on the show tonioght. Terrific performances from quite a few of the regular cast. If Justin Chambers doesn't land an Emmy nomination this year, there is NO justice.

Sunday was Mother's Day - so after church the Vixter and I went to see my mother and bring her some gifts and flowers and pastries.

When we got home we found that Vixdad had given me a great Mother's Day present - he and a local handy man cut down a 40 foot tree that I have hated for the 17 years that have lived here

It was a sumac tree and it dropped  leaves and sticks all over the yard, was shading the pool and the bushes and the two nice maples that I love and was causing them to die.

The Vixter and I spent the rest of the glorioulsy sunny and warm afternoon in the back yard bagging up twigs and leaves  while Vixdad cut the trunk and larger branches  into firewood

Finally as dusk arrived we came in and got cleaned up and then went to the Outback for dinner

I manged a little bit but I really am not good at eating yet still the tenderlon was tender indeed and I did manage a few bites and the crab stuffed shrimp was delicious , I managed to eat one of the four they gave me and the sweet potato was delish loaded with butter and brown sugar

Last week the Vixter fell off of her bicycle into the street and scraped and bruised her knee - she iced it and hadn't mentioned it since and I thought no more about it

after all we walked all over the city on Saturday with no complaints -

So I called the cotor and made an appointment and left work early and came home to get her -

I asked her to show me her knee and it was swollen to about twice the size of the other knee

The doctor gave us a prescription for an antibiotic because she said the swelling was hot which indicated an infection and referred us to a othopedic doctor

So on Tuesday I left work ealry and took her to the orthopedic doctor who xrayed her knee and found no fractures.  I was not surprised since she 'd been walking fine for the past 5 days despite the swelling - (which she never mentioned!!!)

He prescribed an anti-inflamatory for the swelling and asked us to come back next week for a followup when he will decides if the swelling has gone down enough or if he needs to aspitrate fluid with a needle

I am considering another 5K this weekend.  The online registration has ended and it's in a town about an hour from here, but I could run my registration up there tomorrow and then do the race Saturday morning and head on up to my parents house and arrive as already planned.   My ankle has been bothering me, so It's probably not the best idea I've ever had, but it would be fun....I'll see how the ankle is in the morning and may just do it.

Basically, the May 15th deadlines are the special forms for certain companies that use a non-calendar year, returns for private foundations and some other non-profits, and the Texas corporate returns.

I assume May 15 must be a big deadline for Texas accountants.

Somehow with the relief after the April 15 rush, some of the May 15 stuff gets put off and ends up being done in the last week before May 15.
