Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll, and now it is time for you to post until the country cows come home.

I think I watched Laverne & Shirley every week.  It seems so long ago.

Topic of the Day.  These aren't only my favorite Steve McQueen movies...actually they're the only ones of his that I've seen. ::)

The Towering Inferno
The Thomas Crown Affair
The Great Escape
The Blob

I don't think that I have ever seen a Steve McQueen film.

Saturday is a work day. Oh well.

Thanks for the PEYTON PLACE info, MR BK.  I only ask because Questar released Season Five of THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW with the credits (syndication credits NOT original prime time credits) only once on each disc - AND the syndicated edited versions of the episodes.  SHOUT released season six with full prime time credits and the complete as broadcast episodes last year....much better.  I have avoided QUESTAR ever since.

Was it on Saturday Night Live where they joked years and years ago ago something to the effect of:  Steve McQueen announced that he will not read a script for less than a million dollars - but he will read letters for $100,000 and postcards for $50,000.

A million dollars was an awful lot in those days, IIRC!!! :)

I really enjoyed seeing Cindy Williams in The Drowsy Chaperone (in the Georgia Engel role), and hope she does more New York theater soon.

Good Morning - I ended up working 10 hours yesterday - it was a crazy hectic day at work and when I came home I just fell asleep,

Since I just woke up I have nothing to report

Nice to read about LAVERNE & SHIRLEY which I watched regularly during its initial run.  But there were lots of stories about unhappiness and rivalry on the set.

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I bid farewell to Wisconsin today.  We're going back to Ohio, but only as far as Lima, where he will celebrate his first Deacon's Mass tomorrow morning.

TOD

That is easy for me: The Thomas Crown Affair.
I don't know how many times I've watched that film.

The Getaway comes in second.

Both films have been remade with others and McQueens versions are the best.

Two other films are really an ensemble casts IMHO

The Great Escape and The Towering Inferno

And although it is not a favorite

I think he gave an amazing performance in  Papillon and should have been nominated for an Oscar (and Dustin Hoffman)

Good morning, all! Thanks, BK, for the interesting Lavene & Shirley stories. I met the lovely Cindy at the opening of THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, and I've always loved her work. I have never met Miss Marshall, but she directed - or acted in - a play at the Promenade Theatre around 1985 and friends who worked at the Promenade said she was a major bitch and general horror at all times.

Today, I'm going at 3 to the Museum of Broadcasting to see a screening of the NBC Opera's SUOR ANGELICA, and tonight I'm a dinner guest at the home of two of my favorite people, DR FJL and the erudite epicurean Skip. I hear it's fried chicken and my response, is bring it on!

I slept awkwardly; I have a stiff neck and my body aches. I plan to soak in a hot tub for a while.

TOD: I can only recall 3 Steve McQueen films: The Blob, The Great Escape, and Papillon. He did more? Oy! I sound like DR MBarnum.

I was never much of a Steve McQueen fan, though I certainly like several of his films:

THE GREAT ESCAPE
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
BULLITT (Was the producer's publicist for that one)
THE TOWERING INFERNO

I also like LOVE WITH A PROPER STRANGER.  Wish they would release that onto DVD.

Hey y'all.  Last night I attended a concert given by Stephen Bishop.  It was rather interesting as the venue was a Filipino establishment called "Intramuros" in South San Francisco, both a restaurant and an almost like cabaret place.  As Stephen said during his set, "I've been to the Philippines 5 times and after tonight it will seem like 6".  I'm sure I was among many of DR Jose's relatives and Aunties, but the buzz was incredible the entire evening.  Lots of karaoke before Mr. Bishop took the stage and from what I understand, there was dancing after he was done.

The concert was fun.  Stephen Bishop is not the best entertainer around, but his music was fantastic and it was a joy just sharing the same space with a performer that I grew up listening to.  He even sang "It Might Be You" TWO TIMES!!!!!  The crowd went nuts.  There was a meet and greet afterward, however I had to scoot and get to bed because....

Today is my baby sisters wedding.  It's going to be a great day.  I'm doing the music at the church in which I told my soloist that I'll sing with her, but not alone because all I will do is cry.  So, we'll see how that goes.

Tonight, after the reception, the DP and I are winging to Las Vegas where we will spend two days or so with his parents who are vacationing there.

It's quite the whirlwind weekend.

Oh, and the DP made the cake for the wedding (right here in our kitchen!).  As soon as I'm allowed, I'll post a picture, it's all highly secretive until the reception.

Good morning!

Rain is in our forecast for the afternoon, but none to be seen yet. There's a reasonably heavy cloud cover, but they're not gray clouds so it's pretty bright outside.
