Dear BK,

What songs would you have suggested for Susan Boyle to sing (if she had asked for your input)?

Something QUIET.

I'm up - it actually didn't get noisy today until about fifteen minutes ago, so I got to sleep a little later than usual - weird dreams, though.

ASK BK
You have commented that the soundtrack to Breakfast At Tiffany's really isn't a soundtrack recording. Do you know if the recordings still exist and would you consider releasing it?
Of course I'd put it out.  And the gates of Paramount are finally open in that regard, but we already know that there are problems because of the RCA album and their rights.

If you got the track with Audrey Hepburn singing "Moon River,"  You'd make Henry Mancini happy since he regretted using the chorus for the album and not having Audrey Hepburn sing on the album.

Since i have SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE at 8pm, I was gonna skip I'M A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE for good.  The only reason i was watching was because of Spencer and Heidi (they walked off the show last night).

There were rumors that they were being replaced. But apparently they are returning to the show. I"m curious to see this latest stunt, so i guess i'll record it.  I wonder if they are scripting this?

I think that the Tonys should show the creative awards, but i do get why they want to try to have more musical numbers. I liked it when they had the other awards earlier so those who wanted to watch could watch. I may try to watch on the internet this year.

After what I've read on-line this morning ("Tony Squeezes Out Drama"), I've decided that I will be boycotting the Tony broadcast this year.

Yes, I find the trends in this year's Tony broadcast unpleasant as well.

There was supposed to be a Jerry Herman medley sung by Ron Raines, Audra MacDonald and others that was arranged and orchestrated by Larry Blank before they cut it this week from the show.

Perhaps next year they should produce two separate shows.  THE TONY'S - THE AWARDS SHOW and THE TONY'S - THE PERFORMANCES.  Unfortunately, we all know what would happen.  THE AWARDS SHOW's dismal ratings would be even lower than usual and THE PERFORMANCES wouldn't even win their time period.

Everyone talks about the show moving to PBS, but where do you find corperate sponsers who don't mind paying for a show that only a select group of people will ever be interested in watching?  Maybe you should let NBC present the awards show - they have nothing to lose.

Lucky you didn't do the orchestrations, or I would be outside Radio City Sunday night with a picket sign.

Betsy's Worst Nightmare Department:  I had my first-ever "stress test" today, where I did an impossibly high angle incline treadmill test that increased in speed until I reached my target heartrate.  Because I have been doing the treadmill at the gym regularly for the past year plus, it took quite a while to get me up to the target heartrate.  I evidently have the heart of a 30 year old, encased in a somewhat more decrepit body.  ;)  So I'll be around for a while.

I also had weird dreams last night--I dreamt I was going in for an operation and Sasha Baron Cohen was my doctor.  No joke.  He kept poking shots full of novocaine and the like into me all over.  It was most disturbing.

"The neighbor" next to the development has discovered his handy, dandy little Yamaha keyboard has the most incredible sampled scream as one of the patches.  Said neighbor is testing it repeatedly as potential buyers show up.  ;)

Back from the long jog.  By the time I hit the two-mile mark the sky had turned completely gray.  At the three-and-a-half mile mark it actually started to drizzle - needless to say, it was a brisker jog than usual, all the better to eat MORE Genghis Cohen food.  It's still drizzling out.  And, funny that, curiously quiet, construction-wise.

And many Thanks for the Birthday Wishes for my Mom.

Here's a pic (of a pic) of the birthday girl when she was a girl. She was in her mid-teens when this picture was taken - she's standing in the top row flanked by her brothers.

Has anyone else had one of these "stress tests"?  I got a bit concerned when the nurse brought out a drill-like device that screws the electrodes into the skin (she doesn't puncture the skin, but got darned close a couple of times).  I will say that, though she shaved me a tiny bit before placing some of the electrodes, when she ripped them off it convinced me I never, ever want a wax.  :)

Well, I think I'm gonna head out for a quick walk before the rain and storms move in.  Although, I don't think I'd mind getting caught in the rain and splashing in a puddle today.  Nothing like some childlike frivolity. :)

DR JMK, I've gone in annually for a stress test but, while i did get the shaving treatment, I was never approached with the drill-like device you describe.

It's currently drizzling here in Philly.  Just enough to make sure the grass will be wet when I get home so I won't be able to mow the lawn tonight.  Ah, well...
