Back when other girls were ga-ga over John, Paul, George, and Ringo, Harve Presnell was my heartthrob.  I'd seen him in the national tour of The Unsinkable Molly Brown, with Karen Morrow as Molly, in the early '60s, then as Billy Bigelow in a wonderful Carousel when I was in high school.  Richard and I saw him as Daddy Warbucks in one of the last Annie performances here in NY in 1983.

News of his death makes me very sad.

Good Evening!

I think the weathermen and weatherwomen should just keep predicting rain since it did not rain today.  It seems whenever they predict a chance of rain, then we get the deluge.  Today's forecast - at least when I left the house earlier this afternoon - called for rain starting around 4:00 and continuing through the evening.  Well... The skies did get a bit cloudy around 4:00, but then then cleared, and it turned into quite a nice - if a bit humid night - in New York City.

Needless to say, I lost track of just how many block - miles - I walked today.  But I'd have to say at least six. :)

I had to run a bit ago.  Edith has been approved for a home loan and is out shopping for a house. She and her daughter thought they found the house of their dreams and sent me an email.  So I went over and they were there looking at it.  It's the first house she's looked at.

Good bones but very dated. It's a nice neighborhood, but I think she can do better.  Her realtor has a whole group for them to see on Friday.  She said "Oh no! You'll be gone"  LOL,   I'm glad she trusts me enough to want me to help her. I love house hunting.

I think it will help to have her husband look with her.  I also really like her realtor, seems down to earth and had already warned her about things like flood insurance in the houses near Perry Creek, etc.  I was glad to hear that

Ice Cream month?  It's about time!  I've been faux celebrating all year!
Isn't every day Ice Cream Day?

It would be if *I* had anything to do with it!

Harve Presnell

Very, very sad. One of my earliest crushes.

And what a transformation he did between the stage and screen versions of MOLLY BROWN! He was quite a bit heavier when he did MOLLY BROWN on Broadway and lost a considerable amount of weight for the movie camera.

Harve Presnell

That truly saddens me.  I loved him in MOLLY BROWN.

He was also William H. Macy's father in "Fargo."

Father-in-law. BIG difference as far as that movie is concerned.

Michael Weiss of THE PRETENDER happened to be in the audience at ARCHBISHOP SUPREME TARTUFFE last night.  I believe he must be a friend of Andre De Shields.

I wish I was a friend of Michael Weiss.

A lot of us have that wish!

I'm back from a wonderful dinner with a dear friend (whom I don't see enough of) and his boy friend of close to five months. No announcements tonight, but they seem very compatible, and I'm so thrilled for them both. I know Jeff has been wanting something steady for a long, long time.

Dinner was just scrumptious with chicken marsala, broccoli, corn on the cob, a green salad, and apple pie a la mode for dessert.

I'm not ashamed to say that I ate like a pig. I'm really not accustomed to eating my main meal of the day at night, so I was truly starving, and it was SO good. I had seconds, and Jeff fixed a plate for me to bring home of the leftovers.

And we did, indeed, get great seats for The Tin Pan Alley Rag for tomorrow evening.  Now, I need DRs Jose, Elmore, FJL and his ever-lovin' Skip to help us remember that the curtain is at 7:30 and get us into a taxi in a timely manner!

His friend Joe once lived in the Bronx and at one time was a "walker" and ballroom dance partner for Ruth Warrick and Celeste Holm. Very interesting stories.

So, are they likely to dim the lights on Broadway for Karl Malden and/or Harve Presnell?

Here is a new show out at Universal - Florida I guess.  I am hoping NO ONE involved has Broadway aspirations.  They obviously never saw the original CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU42USygGL4

The Creature from the Black Lagoon is the new show at Universal Studios-Hollywood that replaced their Spider Man Spectacular - which had replaced their Universal Monsters Live Rock and Roll Show (which is still running in Universal Studios-Japan).  It's just meant to be a 30-40 minute theme park show where the audience can see some dancing, costumes and stunts and hear some familiar (or familiar-sounding) music.  And, hopefully, have a good time - and get off their feet for a while in an air-conditioned theatre. ;)

The current rock and roll show at Universal Studios-Orlando is Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue.

*And, yes, I have worked for USJ before. ;)

DR JMK - I do hope that your tech for The Producers does indeed go smoothly.  -So how many live pieces/players are you up to now?

I'm sure they will. I'm sure there will be some sort of announcement made within the next 24 hours - it could happen as soon as tomorrow night. -I'm just wondering if they will "combine" the tributes or honor each man on different nights.

Hmmm, I just watched the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON YouTube.  Thnaks for linking it, Jrand.  Is this something Universal released or something a fan put up on YouTube?  I didn't get any sense of what's sure to be the spectacle from that clip, and I really had trouble hearing the words, so i wonder how it was shot.

It looks like someone shot from the audience. Definitely not pro shot

And, yes, that's definitely a clip from someone's vacation video.
