Speaking of SHOWMANSHIP, there's a great book on theatres and their designs incorporating marquees, box offices and terrazzo mosaics called, "The Show Starts on the Sidewalk."  Neat pics!

I have always loved the Basil Rathbone SHERLOCK HOLMES films, maybe because I grew up watching them.  My favorites are probably THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, THE VOICE OF TERROR,  and THE SCARLET CLAW.  When I was younger, it never occurred to me that the Nazis that Rathbone fought in the VOICE OF TERROR were from a different era.  I just loved the characters and the mysteries.

I also appeared in the play THE CRUCIFER OF BLOOD, but neither Mr. Heston, nor Mr. Pogue was in my production.  But as I have stated before, my college roommate was in the original Broadway cast of the show.  It really stunned me when I opened my script for the first time and found Martin's name listed in the cast.

It's from "The Best is Yet to Come," a Cy Coleman review that recently played at The Rubicon in Ventura, CA.

Cy is in the middle, of course.  Next to Jason is Sally Mayes.  Along the bottom are Billy Stritch and Lilias White.  Upper left hand corner is Julia Murney and David Burnham.

You'd better hurry, Kerry. It's already 89.

Interestingly enough it was 94 by the time we got back 30 minutes later, and it's now 104 and still climbing (probably another 10 degrees or so).

Then we should have some good news. My sister is doing very well, and Vixmom should be taking the day off after having her chemo port removed last Friday, if I remember correctly.

No, it's not that it is such a litany of woe; I just want everyone to feel better.

The washing instructions on the label of the T-shirt I am wearing:

"Take off shirt.  Machine wash warm with like colors.  Tumble dry (in a dryer).  Do not bleach, dry clean, or pound on rocks.  If you insist upon ironing-- be careful.  Do not remove tag-- something bad might happen."

Back from a two-mile jog, shipping a few packages, and lunch.  I'm through working for the day, oh, yes, I'm through working for the day.  I may drive over to my designer's to deliver the last piece for our new release, to be announced in about a week and a half.

Jason Graae is the guy furthest right.

In the picture, that is.     ;)

OK, I give up.  Where the hell is the Nina?  :)

Don't tell Betsy.  She HATES the Hooked on Phonics lady--in fact, makes fun of her whenever she hears her doing voiceovers.  :)

I have shared this little tidbit before, but I learned to read and write via phonics, which led to an unintentionally hilarious misstep when I was in First Grade.  We had a little newspaper where we all wrote little articles, and I devoted one article to my father's exploits as a soldier.  Except I spelled "war" as "whore" (what would the pronunication site make of that I wonder?).  So my article stated my father had been in the whore and my mother hoped he was never in another whore again.

In all honesty Sherlock Holmes bores the p outta me. I have never sat through a single episode of any Holmes, done by anyone from Basil Rathbone through Jeremy Brett or anyone in between. Sorry.

Have you seen the previews for the upcoming Robert Downy Jr. movie?  Purist will be horrified, and I know I should be, but it looks like fun to me.  Unlike Bruce I hope it is good.  I'll pretend it is Holmes in a parallel universe & not the one our sweet boy is named for. ;)

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm heading to Lancaster, PA, for the day!

OH...QUAKER FOR THE DAY

More like Amish for the Day. Well, I'm hoping to have a slice of Shoo-Fly Pie while I'm t/here.

I haven't had shoo fly pie since we moved from Ivyland, PA.  Even better were the sweet potato pies & bread.  I used to know the best Amish people to buy from at Rice's, the gigantic upscale flea market....http://www.rices.com
