I am so looking forward to the premieres tonight of GHOST WHISPERER and MEDIUM!

Me, too!  But I have to record them, and PSYCH.

Tonight, I'm working tonight at the Washington Center for the Performing Art's annual CenterFest fundraiser.  They used to bring in a big name (Bernadette Peters, Gregory Hines, Lily Tomlin, to name a few) and sell tickets, but it actually cost them more than what they were bringing in, so they just now have a big party for the big money people.  I'll be working with one of the bartenders.  I hope it's my friend, Linda.  She's cool!  Anyway, it'll be a long but fun night. :D

I LOVED the Kristina concert last night!!  It will probably go down as one of my favorite things of the year.  The music is so stunningly beautiful.  It was the first time I ever heard it.  I don't have any of the recordings.  And yet, I immediately felt washed in the beauty of it.  OK -- that's really geeky.  But it's true.  Also, the voices of the singers were fabulous.  I can't imagine it being sung any better.  And with the 50 piece orchestra, I can't imagine it ever sounding better.  As a piece, it is almost operatic, but still has a contemporary feel - in a way reminiscent to me at times to the score of Chess.

I know some people were reporting sound problems the first night, but they must have worked it out becuase I had no such problems last night.  I really hope this is only the beginning of it's life in America.  But in the meantime, I definitely need to acquire the recording.

Yes, you DO need to acquire the recording!  And I'm glad that you enjoyed it so much, but the original recording (in the original Swedish) is a necessary purchse...in my humble opinion (IMHO in Internet lingo). :)

If they asked me, I could write a book.

But, of course, no one ever does...

That didn't stop BK...which I certainly appreciate. :D

DR Sam, I have no idea how they can charge extra rent for a pet, & a sizable amount too. DS Craig said it isn’t uncommon
They charge a pet deposit here, but not extra rent

Congrats Matt on finishing th physical therapy appointments.  Vibes for continued improvement.

Thanks, and thanks to DRs Jane and FJL for their good wishes. One especially encouraging thing is that after a very deep and arduous massage this morning, I haven't felt any ill effects this afternoon which is VERY different from a week ago when her workout kept me from going to the theater that evening because of my body's reaction to it.

Now that I'm back from the runthru, which had me all teary at the end, I  am off to 172nd Street to deliver two scores to the copyist.  A lot of the producers were there, and it was great to see Kevin Spirtas and Jamie de Roy.  I like the cast a lot, and David Schramm,  the new Senator Rawkins, is so much better and funnier than the actor at Encores! I like him and his work so I will not mention his name.

DR Matt H, a big thank you for the MEDIUM update.  With the change our DVR had to be re-programed to record the series.  We would have missed it tonight had you not mentioned it.

You're welcome. I am PRAYING that the show keeps pace with the ratings for GHOST WHISPERER so that CBS' decision to bring the show over from NBC will be justified.

I had a wonderful afternoon of TV viewing, all things from the DVR. While I ate lunch, I watched last night's THE MENTALIST which I loved. Yes, I see DR RLP's point about Patrick's petulance, but I also understood it. He's an eccentric character still deeply in a kind of walking grief over what happened to his wife and child and to be basically slapped across the face in being removed from the investigation (it's not as if they weren't closing a BUNCH of cases) was a bit of an insult and a heartbreak. I was willing to cut him a little slack, and I also know a couple of times in my life when I didn't get what I wanted, I, too, initially reacted like a child only later to realize I wasn't hurting anyone but myself.

The case they DID work was very entertaining.

And did you notice how much weight Yeoman lost over the hiatus? Looked like 25-30 pounds to me!

Next, I watched last night's GREY'S ANATOMY premiere. I basically sobbed my way through the entire two hours. It was profoundly moving to me.

Then I skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Fish and McBain talking about Fish's sexuality for the first half of the show and then working on a case together. No Kyle. Still, good program.

ATWT had nothing of interest and no Luke in the previews for next week though it looks to be mving the kidnap story right along so that's at least encouraging.

Usually the pet deposit is refundable if there is damage, the extra rent is not.  I think it is a total rip-off. >:(

Then I watched a show I recorded earlier: MINNELLI ON MINNELLI, a 1987 documentary with Liza talking about her father's films. This was done long before Warners started remastering the color films for DVD (obviously since DVD was ten years away when this was done), so all those old video masters looked simply horrible in the clips they used. Liza looked fantastic in the narrative segments which makes her looks today all the more tragic. (Well, it IS 20+ years later, but still, it's a shame).

From Playbill.com:  Barrett to Return to Chicago in October; New CD Due in November!!

In November Barrett will also release his third solo recording, a Christmas CD titled "Simple Gifts" for Kritzerland Records. The recording, with arrangements by musical director Christopher Denny, features holiday standards and new tunes, including one ("A Star to Guide Me") penned by Barrett.

Guess I'll tidy up a few computer desktop items and then head back down for more viewing. I still have PROJECT RUNWAY, FLASH FORWARD, and THE OFFICE from last night to watch before I join "in progress" on the DVR GHOST WHISPERER and MEDIUM tonight. All other shows will be saved for the rest of the weekend.

I got no review items today, so I am expecting a completely free weekend of viewing.

Another jam-packed day and I have no idea why, really?  I didn't jog because it's over 100 degrees today.  I had a sandwich and fries while doing work on notes for the long musical.  We got the new Kritzerland title all ready to announce and that will go live late this afternoon.  Then lots of little errands and whatnot and getting the designer bunches of materials for upcoming projects.

Now happy with the new and improved master and that's going off to the pressing plant.  Booklet's done, too.  Taras Bulba will be here Tuesday morning.

And now a very costly one!  The four used copies at Amazon are going for $250.00 each!!  When I bought it a year and a half ago [upon DR George's recommendation] it was only $39.00.
