Of the houses with outside decorations, this one is the very best I saw.  This is a house in Edgefield that annually wins community awards for decor at Christmas.  I don't know that it won anything this year, but it certainly outshone all the competition I saw:

And this shot is of the town square in Edgefield.  The town of Edgefield is also the county seat...and the home of 10 South Carolina governors (Mark Sanford, mercifully, is not among them) as well as Strom Thurmond.

Cillaliz, what beautiful photos...especially of the deer! How wonderful!

And DR Laura, the Christmas card was great...I built a snowman, as well!

And my Christmas gift to myself was a luxuriously long and amazing sound 10 hours of sleep. :)

*Apparently, I really must have been out like the proverbial light as soon as my head proverbially hit the non-proverbial pillow last night since I did not hear my brother, Mike, ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door last night when he came in.  And from what I gather, he probably arrived just a few minutes after I got into bed.  Thankfully, he did have keys to the house, but would have liked some assistance bringing his bag and gifts in.  I didn't even hear my parents come in last night either. -And they're never that quiet.  Hmmm... Moving on...

Once again, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas so far.  And safe travels to everyone - whether it be on foot, by car or bus or subway, in a train or a plane.  Or a gopherwood ark.

We now have somewhat of a plan for the afternoon.  I'm going to pick up my mom in time for us to be back here to watch Improve-Ice on NBC at 3pm.  Rob and Mary Linda will call when they pass the mosque on I-75 and that will let me know that we have about 3 hours until their arrival.

Are you sure those aren't titles from DR elmore's not-so-secret library?

DR MBarnum!  My parents used to have that same San Francisco print hanging over the stereo.  I'll have to show your photo to my mother and ask her what happened to it.

If she gave it to a thrift shop, it could be the very same one! LOL!

As for the rest of my Christmas Day...

It's supposed to be a rainy day here in Richmond, but nothing has started falling from the sky, at least in my parents' neighborhood.  My brother, Mike, is here, but he'll be heading back up to Fairfax later tonight, and then will come back tomorrow with his kids. My brother, Don, will also be heading down tomorrow with his daughter, so we should have quite a full and lively house tomorrow.

The gathering at Steve's father's house isn't until 5:00 this afternoon, and in the meantime, I'll be "correcting" the hair cut my Dad gave me last night. Although, as long as I'm photographed from my left side, I should be all right. :-\ ;) ::)

Since we had our Christmas on Wednesday, today is all mine...unless I end up at my sisters later on.

So for the TOD:

DVR: White Christmas

DVD: Holiday Affair and an obscure Ed Fury film that DR Elmore sent to me  8)

For those DRs who may be so inclined, you can listen to/stream "A Very Special [David] Sedaris Christmas" from PRI's "This American Life" throughout this holiday week.

DR MBarnum - I'm curious: What do your regular, for-daily-use salt and pepper shakers look like?
