We're christening the new dining table this Christmas.  The old dining table has been taken away by the trash people.

Happy Birthday to JRand's mom.  Mom, did you know your son has an unhealthy obsession with long dead actresses.  I find that extremely odd.  ;)

I'm up after a lovely night's sleep.  I didn't really go to bed until two, so it was good to sleep till now.  I'm heating up the house - it's sixty-one degrees right now.  Sky is blue outside.  I forgot to mention that the neighbors did indeed have their partay last night and parking was a little wacky.

I will let you know what I think of the Yakuzas DR MBARNUM.....but since I liked that part of The H Man, I was interested to see a couple of real Yakuza films.

After working last night [lovely Christmas Eve candlelit services], we picked up the dog and the guinea pig and drove and drove.  There was no bad weather, no traffic, and no police traps.  We arrived in time to settle down to visions of sugar plums by around 3:30 AM.  And were very happy to wake up this morning and already be here.

We had a lovely festive breakfast, then took Zach to run on the beach.  He was in heaven.

Since part of our "paring down" several years ago eliminated gifts, we look forward to a quiet day with lovely music in the background - laughing, reading, sitting by the fire, and eating a festive dinner later.

Happy Day, all!       :)

As the end of the year approaches, my one real regret is that after looking back many many times on the actual initial exchange that started my one mystifying rift for 2009 (and actually the decade), I honestly can't figure out what I did wrong that actually started the rift - though I do see where it got nasty about two exchanges after that initial exchange.

Meanwhile, I've seen nasty cruel  things said to the person with whom i had the rift, and what I would consider IMHO unfeeling inconsiderate things said to others by that person, with no apparent impact on other interpersonal relationships.

I've had some other rifts in my life, but always understood what precipitated them.  This one is all in writing/typing, all in cyber-writing where it can be analyzed, and the start of it makes no sense to me - and I guess it's my loss, because what i said  clearly had a harsher impact than some IMHO pretty horrible, inconsiderate things that have been said to and by this person - so it must be a flaw in me that i simply do not understand it.

----
Hmmm, I've said that and I'm still not feeling better.

I don't know who they had at the neighbors, other than I saw they hired "help" to serve people and clean up.  For me, that's too impersonal - I would never have a party so large that I'd need hired help to serve food and drink.  But that's Studio City for you.

Everyone has flaws, and posts and e-mails can sometimes "sound" in ways they are not intended to sound.  But in the spirit of Christmas, let's forgive and put it away - I've met practically everyone on this board, and those I haven't actually met in person I've certainly come to know through the site, and everyone here are wonderful human beings with caring spirits and a generosity not often or even ever seen on the Internet.  Yes, we've had our little tiffs, but they blow over and we move on.  Sometimes we've lost people because of a tiff between dear readers and that is a shame, but we still move on and we're still here and those people who've left will always be welcomed back should they choose to return.

Hmmm, I've said that and I'm still not feeling better.  So I hope that person finds happiness in having ruined the holiday for me!  I suspect he will find happiness in that.  This is the first time in ten years I've felt this about someone, but I don't wish him well.

Is this an HHW rift?  Perish the thought.

I just wish I understood what caused it.

I do understand a good rift if what starts it makes logical sense.  :)
