Well, you've read the notes, the notes were up to snuff and if they weren't, tough, and now it is time for you to post until the up to snuff cows come home.

I changed the choreography slightly last night to IMPROVE the dance.  It's always better to change things BEFORE the dance is taught to your partner....although I am sure we will make some adjustments today.

FJL, when you asked about the Aretha-Liza commercial I thought you were nuts. Then I watched it. Hilarious.

DR Jane thanks for posting that Ellen/Kara/Angela Martin story.

I can't say she was one of my favorites. But i was so moved by her story. And i was very upset when they cut her right before the top 24. I believe it was her last year to be on the show. And i thought it was cruel of them to bring her so far and cut her then.

DR MattH re: elvis stojko's comments on men's skating.

When i first read the comments i did not know he (elvis) said them. And thought them extremely harsh (he thought plushenko was robbed). Then I saw him (stojko) and other skater/analysts (US champion sasha cohen included). And it was a video, so you could actually see what they were saying.  Even though i don't agree with what was said overall it made more sense.

I think the thing i disagree with the most is that plushenko did not skate cleanly (okay maybe he did not fall but he stumbled a lot). I think if he had skated as cleanly as he usually does then the comments from Stojko/Sasha Cohen ... might have been valid.

Interestingly, Stojko said it had nothing to do with who he liked personally. And he actually said he thought that johnny weir should have been scored higher than canadian patrick chan.  I would have thought he would have preferred Chan with all the jumps vs weir who is more artistic.

re: the olympics I'd have to say last night's 1000M men's short track race was one of the most disappointing for canada. The final had 2 koreans, apolo anton ohno and 2 canadian brothers (the Hamelins). Obviously going in everybody knew how strong the koreans were. And that ohno was trying to be the most decorated US winter olympian ever (plus he's a great racer). But boy it was so disappointing to have the brothers lead the race and then end up 4th and 5th at the end. :(

I have some tidying up to take care of around the apartment, and then a couple of things to attend to outside of my apartment.

Good morning, all! The BBC version of EMMA ended around around 2 am, so I slept in until 9 am. I've bathed, had my first cup of coffee and I will shortly begin my final round of receipt tallies for 2009. I have until Thursday at noon to finish them, so I will take my time and pull no allnighters.

I had enjoyed the one PBS episode of EMMA that I caught, but the series was shortened by PBS. The 4-hour DVD set is the complete BBC broadcast, and I think it has now become my favorite adaptation of the novel, with CLUELESS running a close second choice. I liked the A&E version with Kate Beckinsale much better than the one with Gwyneth Paltrow, which has moments but also has many of the same problems I find with the Greer Garson version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE: too pretty, too cuddly, too coy, more Hollywood than Regency England, and lacking too much bite. I remember liking it in the theatres but I've lost a lot of patience with it. Of the four differnt casts, I still prefer the A&E cast: I think Mark Strong is the best Knightley and Beckinsale the best Emma, but I like Michael Gambon in the 2009 version as Mr Wodehouse as much as I like Bernard Hepton in the A&E.  Emma's protege Harriet Smith is best in the new version, but I felt that the actresses playing Miss Taylor and Jane Fairfax looked so much alike that I had a hard time telling them apart. As for poor Miss Bates, I think I prefer Prunella Scales, because she's one of my favorite actresses. I think I will work for a bit, and tonight watch the Paltrwo and Beckinsale versions again.

Good morning!

Another beautiful day here, but we continue to get the forecast for rain tomorrow, so our blissful weekend seems to be coming to an end. But I enjoyed my walk this morning, and hope the rain will hold off tomorrow so I can get my walk in and not have to use the treadmill.

I hope to get several things accomplished today. My first order of business is to clear the ladies Torino Olympics from my DVR cache. Yep, it's been there four years, and I've just been so busy working that I have never taken the time to get those long and short programs onto discs, but having done the men's 2010 skating yesterday, I am eager to get the ladies from four years ago done so I can clear out even more room on my DVR. That should clear a further 16% of room on the cache, and I will be much happier that it's transferred and off there.
