Tonight I'll probably watch a Blu-ray disc - maybe THE DA VINCI CODE or VAN HELSING or TO LIVE AND DIE IN L.A.

And if I have any spare time, I'd like to start working my way back through six seasons of THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN. Having read those two SUPERMAN nonfiction books  back-to-back over the last week or 10 days, I'd like to watch the shows again, which I'vbe always found entertaining since I was a little boy. Sure, they're loaded with goofs and lame plots (sometimes), but the show always takes me right back to my childhood, and I can't wait to see some of the episodes again.

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!  The best part of having a birthday at HHW is waking up to find such lovely greetings.  Today is work, party with the Beauty and the Beast Jr. cast and then the DP has organized a Wii Bowling tournament with some of our closest friends complete with soup and sandwiches.  Who could ask for anything more?

Because of Betsy's chance encounter with Ms. Silverman yesterday, we have been privy to all sorts of generally unknown information about the young lass, shared by those who attended this comedy writing conference yesterday.  ;)

Today is also the birthday of singer John DePalma as well as that of musician John Boswell.  Obviously some very nice people were born on this day.

I changed the choreography slightly last night to IMPROVE the dance.  It's always better to change things BEFORE the dance is taught to your partner....although I am sure we will make some adjustments today.

Good luck! :)

DR Jane thanks for posting that Ellen/Kara/Angela Martin story.

I can't say she was one of my favorites. But i was so moved by her story. And i was very upset when they cut her right before the top 24. I believe it was her last year to be on the show. And i thought it was cruel of them to bring her so far and cut her then.

I of course knew nothing about her until I read the story, very moving.  I wish her good things from now on.

Good morning, all! The BBC version of EMMA ended around around 2 am,

I had enjoyed the one PBS episode of EMMA that I caught, but the series was shortened by PBS. The 4-hour DVD set is the complete BBC broadcast, and I think it has now become my favorite adaptation of the novel,

Of the four different casts, I still prefer the A&E cast: I think Mark Strong is the best Knightley and Beckinsale the best Emma, but I like Michael Gambon in the 2009 version as Mr Wodehouse as much as I like Bernard Hepton in the A&E.  Emma's protege Harriet Smith is best in the new version, but I felt that the actresses playing Miss Taylor and Jane Fairfax looked so much alike that I had a hard time telling them apart. As for poor Miss Bates, I think I prefer Prunella Scales, because she's one of my favorite actresses. I think I will work for a bit, and tonight watch the Paltrwo and Beckinsale versions again.

Is the PBS version you just watched the 3 part Michael Gambon on I recorded?  If so, then you think I should get the 4 part DVD instead of watching the 3 part one I have saved?

Gabe still has clogged ears, I still have clogged sinuses and a croupy cough.  Betsy and Zach seem to be A-OK.  ;)

I caught the interview with Evan & was very impressed with him & felt he showed true class.  While Plushenko is whining (granted he has been fueled by others) Lysacek offered us a kinder view of Plushenko.

I missed the interview with Weir.

I was never a fan of Elvis Stojko.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! (a George W. Bush reference)

After four years of procrastinating, I finally got the ladies short programs and the ladies long programs off my DVR and onto a DVD-R. It's a tremendous relief to now have them transferred and the DVR cleared of all that room taken up by the HD broadcasts of those two competitions in 2006. Now, the only large scale program I still haven't transferred was last year's Tony Awards which is still on there. That'll be my next order of business, but I'm not in any hurry with it since I've gotten those Olympic programs off there. I will not be pushed to find space for other shows to be be recorded.

I have to say in looking back at the ladies of 2006, it was a very unimpressive night for them. Because Sasha Cohen skated early and had some mistakes, the other top ladies downgraded their programs and played it safe. I don't blame them: why take risks when all that was needed was a clean skate to best the person who was previously in first place, but it didn't make for the most exciting Olympics. 1998 and 2002 with Tara Lipinski and Sarah Hughes surprisingly taking the golds were much more tightly contested and nerve-wracking competitions.

My Uncle Bob, my mother's youngest brother, is in hospital. I suspect that he is dying; he's 80 years old and in terrible shape. I thought he would be dead a year ago at this time but his body was not ready to let go. When I saw him in December 2008, he told me he'd been seeing his late wife and his mother, and I think they've been waiting for him.  When I was born, he and my Uncle Paul were on the Middletown High School football team, and I have very vague memories of beng passed around the team like a football when they hung out at my grandmother's. Bob also dated one of the McGuire Sisters in high school, Phyllis, I think.

He could use some vibes. i'm praying for a quick and peaceful death.

Because it took so much time to weave through all those short programs and long programs (poor Carolina Kostner from Italy who was one of the favorites and had two horrific skates; she comes into this year's competition as the European champion and is again expecting to compete for a medal), I didn't have a two hour block left to watch THE READER, so I'll watch it tonight when I go back down.

I wish your Uncle Bob a peaceful and graceful exit if it IS indeed his time, DR Elmore.

I wish that for all of us frankly.
