Sunday evening greetings!  We've been home from Lima for a couple of hours, but I took a nap as soon as we got here, then talked to my Mom on the phone for a while.

re: the olympics I'd have to say last night's 1000M men's short track race was one of the most disappointing for canada. The final had 2 koreans, apolo anton ohno and 2 canadian brothers (the Hamelins). Obviously going in everybody knew how strong the koreans were. And that ohno was trying to be the most decorated US winter olympian ever (plus he's a great racer). But boy it was so disappointing to have the brothers lead the race and then end up 4th and 5th at the end. :(

Guess I won't have to watch it now...since we lost power I was waiting to see it on the web

Earlier this week they had tons of the $10 Canada red olympic mittens (the ones oprah had). But they are all gone now. Apparently they had to ship them all to vancouver. I find this very odd. I guess there is a huge shortage there.

I got mine this week.  I wore them yesterday and people who had seem me the day before were asking if I went to the Olympics.  It really cracked me up.  Yeah, I flew up, bought some mittens and flew back

Our power came back on at about 11:25 last night.  I made the mistake when I called in to report it of requesting a call  back when it was turned back on.  Sort of a make sure it's really on feature.   A computer called at 4:45 AM to tell me it was on. I flew out of bed.. a call at 4:45 AM is rarely good news.  I was a bit irritated when I realized what it was.  I will never choose that option again.

My Uncle Bob was my mother's brother and he went to his grave thinking that our DS Rob was named for him.

I caught the interview with Evan & was very impressed with him & felt he showed true class.  While Plushenko is whining (granted he has been fueled by others) Lysacek offered us a kinder view of Plushenko.

I missed the interview with Weir.

I was never a fan of Elvis Stojko.

Interestingly, Plushenko was interviewed on canadian tv yesterday. And he seemed very gracious.  He didn't even say that he should have won.

Nice to know.   I've enjoyed reading the different perspectives from the Canadian reporting.

I feel so bad for Canadian women's figure skater Joannie Rochette.  Her mom came to vancouver to watch her skate and she died suddenly this morning of a heart attack. :(

How horrible.  22 is very young to lose a parent, especially one she was so close to. I hope she finds the strength to do her best.

I don't have an Unce Bob.  I don't have any uncles or aunts.  It is tough enough having to be an Uncle Tom.

Vibes to elmore's Uncle Bob.

Back from printing the book, delivering CDs and some breakfast at Marie Callender's, which is the ONLY place I could actually get into without waiting.  Yes, there is not ONE single restaurant in the City of Studio that you can get into on a Sunday - EVER.  So, I drove to Burbank and apparently in Burbank they're not quite as entitled or spoiled as they are in Studio City.

bk - It's Sunday. No matter what city you are in, people eat out on Sundays - usually after church, or sleeping in after living it up on Saturday night.  Waiting is normal - and means the restaurant is doing good business.

Suppose you snagged a table - a "one top" - at the last table in a place in Studio City.  -Who would be thought of as "entitled" and "spoiled" now?  ;)

*And just be thankful it wasn't Mother's Day. ::)

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!  The best part of having a birthday at HHW is waking up to find such lovely greetings.  Today is work, party with the Beauty and the Beast Jr. cast and then the DP has organized a Wii Bowling tournament with some of our closest friends complete with soup and sandwiches.  Who could ask for anything more?

What kind of soup? What kind of sandwiches?

Vibes for the Uncle Bob of DR ELMORE.

Doesn't everyone have an Uncle Bob?

My mother's younger brother who died last year in Ohio...I drove up there in a snowstorm for the funeral, hit something sharp on the hwy and blew a tire, had to stay over somewhere in Kentucky but made it there just in time.

Vibes for Larry and his uncle. I loved my Uncle Bob, he was a sweet, gentle, funny guy.
