Even though I can't see it, the World FIgure Skating CHampionships should be interesting on the men's side.

Since Evan Lysechek, Plushenko, Johnny Weir, and Stephane Lambiel are not competing (that's four of the top six skaters from the Olympics), the competition is wide open. One article I read on-line this morning predicted a Japanese sweep of the podium since their three Olympic skaters are all at Worlds. But I think that's short-sighted to ignore Patrick Chan (who finished 2nd last year), Jeremy Abbott (who should have a rebound from his poor Olympic performance), and Brian Joubert who's won it before and is always a threat if he's on the mark.

On the ladies' side, all of the top skaters from the Olympics excewpt Joannie Rochette are competing, so those results won't likely change too much. But I hope Rachael Flatt gets some payback for those mysterious downgrades she alone received at the Olympics for her triple flips. (I have played them over 50 times and can't see a problem with them at all.)

One funny thing that entered one of my many dreams last night--the jingle from an old Wheaties commercial that had the lyric "You didn't eat your Wheaties."  Now that I'm awake (kind of), I can hear the melody of the jingle but I can't recall all of the lyrics.  Now that's going to be playing in me head all day...

Well, I guess it wasn't THIS ONE then. ???
...Or this one with Mary Lou Retton?

;)

Nope.  This jingle went something like:

Dah-da!
You didn't eat your Wheaties.
Strike three--
Da-dah da-dah da-dah...

Guess I'll head downstairs and check out last night's AMERICAN IDOL singers. Then it'll be time to cook lunch followed by watching (likely) SOUTHLAND while I eat lunch.

My Cereal Commercial:

Announcer: Here's Mamie Van Doren, for Kellogg's Rice Krispies!

(Kitchen table, Mamie Van Doren seated at table, pouring milk into a big bowl of Rice Krispies.

Mamie Van Doren: Hi!  I'm Mamie Van Doren.  The very first thing I like to do in the morning is sit down to a big brimming bowlfull of my favorite breakfast cereal, Kellogg's Rice Kripsies.  The Snap! Crackle! Pop! really gets me going!  After just a few spoonfulls, I'm full of energy and excitement and I'm ready to start my day.  They're so tasty and crunchy, too! Plus one big bowl of Kelloggs Rice Krispies are jam-packed with all the vitamins and minerals that I need to keep me healthy and growing!  So mothers, remember when you're walking down your grocery aisle: (Mamie holds the Rice Krispie box up along her--*ahem*-side and sings) Snap! Crackle! Pop! Rice Krispies!

Announcer:  Kelloggs' Rice Krispies--a bowl for you each morning!

re: the world championships in figure skating.

I don't know if anyone is close enough to the border to be able to watch CBC. But they are showing the skating from 3pm-4pm and midnight to 1am every day.  It seems like their sister station (which i don't get) has the full coverage.

I have errrands to run, so i'm heading out for a couple of hours. I just edited "Niccolo's Piccolo" from the 1902 WIZARD OF OZ, which features such unfamiliar characters as Sir Dashemoff Daily, Pastoria the real ruler of Oz and his girlfriend Tryxie Tryfle, and the madwoman Cynthia Cynch whose song "Niccolo's Piccolo" is about her missing fiance, Nick Chopper, who of course turns out to be the Tin Woodman. The only thing the MGM film took from the 1902 musical was the snowfall to kill the poppies, although Ray Bolger acknowledged his debt to Fred Stone the original Scarecrow.

TOD

On some of your cast/concept albums you have Sound EFX of people dancing and was wondering why the choice of doing this instead of it just being "clean" (music/vocal only)

By dancing, I presume you mean tap dancing, yes?  The choice is simple and we've had as much tap dancing as I could use (usually done by the great Niki Harris) - I like the sound of it, it's theatrical, and it's grand fun.

Question for Ask BK Day...

Which cereal would you like to do a commercial for?  (pardon my dangling participle)

Sugar Pops.  Do they still make that?

Oatmeal! Bloatmeal! Just eat it!

I feel like I'm in an episode of "Pushing Daisies" this morning. Off to a photo shoot at a place called the Texas Pie Co. One of today's flavors is strawberry peach. And there's a huge slice of pie hanging over the front of the place. Wish I could send you all slices.

DR John G - Whole pies are easier to ship. ;)

and strawberry peach sounds yummy.

I don't ever want to see evil and guilty people go free.  but in a very controversial case in the news which I shall not name because it's a highly volatile case, it seems they've frozen the accused's assets so that there will be money to compensate the victims, assuming he's found guilty.

But since the assets are frozen, he had to let his lawyer go since he can't afford his lawyer.

If this stands up, what's to stop the government/prosecution from using this reason (that the money is needed to compensate the victims) to freeze any defendant's funds, and as a result keep that defendant from getting a vigorous defense?

Very interesting.  Put this way it doesn't seem right.  I'm guessing if we knew who the defendant is we would feel differently.
