Just took another  look at the Radisson in Scranton where I'm staying for the bat-Mitzvah - it really is nice, and I'm hoping I can get a late check-out to enjoy some of the amenities.

It's also "a year from last Shavuos" - especially relevant given the recent Boys in the Band revival..

Hmmm... Now I really wish I could track down a copy of that picture of Carol Channing as Eliza Doolittle in Shaw's Pygmalion that adorns one of the walls down at the Olney Theatre Center in Maryland.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Well... Since ConEd just knocked on our door to inform us that they'll be turning off the power again in about 10 minutes for another 20 minutes or so...  Well...

Laters...

At the last minute yesterday I bought a ticket to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.  Man!, he's still got it.   It was a fabulous concert and I'm really glad I decided to go. And the Four Seasons?   The lady next to me said "I only see one season...summer...because they are all SO HOT!"  and they were!

This is probably "old" to some of you, but I'd never seen it before:

This helper has been very good for the most part, and this has happened a couple of times before - I told her that when we made a time and it was agreed upon that we had to stick to it from now on and she said she would.

I've been carrying around a book with a man's naked torso with 6 pack abs on the cover; some photographic essay on Roman wrestling or something. It was shipped to me to give to a friend when he got to the states. Wonder if he'll pick it up today before he leaves the country? It's plastic wrapped but I have a feeling that if I opened it I might blush...

If he doesn't want it, you can send it to DR MBarnum to help his erotomania.

I'm sure everyone will be glad to know that in addition to THE CLOSER, I'm also doing the promos for everyones' favorite, SAVING GRACE. After we finished next week's promos, they decided to change the order in which the episodes air, so at 6 last night we learned that we have to cut spots today that will be onlined and  mixed tomorrow and on the air on Monday. Guess that will cut down on the approval process!

I hate that program!

Greetings from Toyland! I am feeling quite puny today and not at all happy about it. Hopefully, today's session will not be too angst-ridden but I do look forward to Mr Kennon's company. I wish he'd bring some food.

On the internet front - ever do something so goofy that logic tells you it's just plain weird, yet you still want to share it?

"Unemployment insurance" is an odd thing - if you're self-employed on a day, you can't collect for that day, but if you put together material that is more to promote yourself than make money from it, that seems to be looking for work.

So with that knowledge:

If CHER did THE VISIT (RE-MIX, heavier on the AUTO-TUNE) - BELIEVE parody (I actually wanted to give this one another try, it's just so goony
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTdmRqJ1pSo

And this one is just so goofy, but really depends on someone REALLY knowing the lyrics to "1776"

John & Abigail Adams Family ("Yours! Yours! Yours! Yours!") - assumes working knowledge of "1776" cast album :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bUcJKIYFyw

I know it's rude to post links and run, but it seems so on-topic today.  (I'm mostly reading, but the back-and-forth over unemployment seems odd and they clearly know what sites I go on, and HHW is googlable anyway!)  Assuming all comes out in my favor, it'll still go back to the date I first applied - but fight it they seem to be doing!!!

I almost sniggered out the sandwich I was eating!

It is way too bee-yoo-tee-full to be indoors today...

Especially when one does not have a window to stare out of...

What I don't like is the snarkiness that can occur in virtual conversations and the hurt feelings that can result.  One of the worst places is the discussion board on the Vera Bradley corporate FB page.  You'd think someone from the company would be monitoring that for the sake of their corporate image.

Have you emailed them with this suggestion?

Thanks for the suggestions DR Vixmom.  I'll check out my angel food cake recipe (good suggestion.)  I thought it has a lot of sugar, with luck I am wrong.  The idea is to bake something before they arrive.  Yes, we will of course have fresh fruit in the house, however we will NOT have raspberries. ;D

Well, it seems echoes of HHW haunt me wherever I go:

Mexican Beer Dinner

Reception/First Course:
Artisanal Cheeses
cured meat, olives, toast points
paired with Beer Sampling

Second Course:
Lobster Pozole Soup
roasted hominy, baby roma tomatoes, fingerlings
paired with Victory Prima Pils

Third Course:
Duo of Kobe Beef & Grilled Vegetable Empanadas
tequila-lime drizzle, salsa fresca
paired with Caldera IPA

Fourth Course:
Ropa Vieja de Cordero
six-hour Colorado lamb shoulder,
smoked chile tamale, mint mole
paired with Ommegang Abbey Ale

Fifth Course:
Tres Leches Cake
dulce de leche, mexican chocolate
paired with Rogue Mocha Porter

Now - all the beverages are suppposed to be carefully selected brews....

But then came the third course, and the beverage was:

Not only is is not imported, it comes from some place nobody ever heard of:

der Brucer

What's next - Champagne from Studio City :)
