Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bidin' their time, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're also bidin' their time.

Good morning, all! After a bit of stomping around from the Oaf Above Me between 11 and 11:30, just after I'd turned off the lights, things were suddenly quiet and I slept well. I even slept late, for me, to 8:45. I have an easy day; I'll try to finish up the second chart for Indianapolis - about half to write now - and I think I have a few more questions to answer for the copyists.

Tonight I will watch the Edna Mae Oliver movie that DR MBarnum sent me, and I may watch another of the Netflix items. Not much else to report at this time.

Larry - Do I understand from your post the other day that CHICAGO is based on real-life murders?

If so - I'm not sure how i feel about factual real-life murder being handled in such a comical way.  it never occurred to me before that these are the deaths of real-life breathing people that we as an audience having such madcap fun with.

BK - i hadn't remembered that you'd never met Glenn Slater before.

Glenn and his wife Wendy (and their children) are the most wonderful people,

DR FJL, Maureen Dallas Watkins' successful play CHICAGO, source of the musical, is based on the trials of several murderesses that she covered for the Chicago newspapers. The original souvenir programs for the original run of CHICAGO with Verdon and Rivera contained photocopies of news clippings from the original trials.

Also, there's only one execution in the show: the poor Czech (Polish?) woman who can't speak English or afford a good lawyer. It's the show's one concession to reality. Watkins is more concerned with the sardonic humor behind the carnival and manipulations of the press hungry murderesses to be found innocent.

DR Jane, I think I will start swimming again this winter. For a while (maybe 5 or 10 years ago) that was my exercise of choice. I'd go 2 or 3 times a week for 1 hour.

I don't really like indoor swimming in the summer. But there is an indoor pool attached to the library. So since i won't be able to bike. I might try to swim once a week all winter. I think that is a goal i could maintain.

I'm up and have been dealing with a total idiot who e-mailed me at 4:57 am to report that he hadn't received word that his order for the London Promises had gone through, that he hadn't received the CD and was I going to write him or refund his cc.  This e-mail was laden with attitude.  I responded as I always do, informing him that it is clearly stated on the item page that the official ship date is the first week of September - and if there is a way to make it clearer to please let me know.  I also informed him we don't send out "word" but paypal has a simple "You've made a payment" at the end of every transaction and clearly that payment shows up in his paypal account.  I informed him the CDs came in four weeks early and had shipped out Thursday.

Then I see that this total jerk has opened a paypal dispute.  That's right - before even waiting for a response which, as you can see, he got less than five hours after he sent his missive, he opens a paypal dispute, which means they have deducted money from my account.  I wish I hadn't sent his CD because I would cancel this jerk's order so fast it would make his head spin.  While he was quick to e-mail and open the dispute, funnily he has not been quick to respond to my e-mail or my paypal dispute response.  I then called paypal and now there's nothing to be done until this ASS closes out the dispute - it's clear he won't do this until he receives his CD, which should be today or Monday.   My guess, however, is this guy is such a jerk that he will "forget" to close out the dispute, which means that I will then have to wait until it automatically closes on - August 27, at which point the money will come back into my account.

Once the money is back in the account, I will then inform this guy to NEVER EVER place an order through Kritzerland again.  So, here is a clear example of the customer is NOT always right and sometimes the customer is a total fool who can kiss my ASS.
