Well, the movie ends with Cary Grant dressed as Santa. So, does that  make it a Christmas movie?

Good Evening!

Well... I saw a play earlier this evening.  There were some wonderful performances, and some great word play. However, I have absolutely idea what happened in it. -Well, more accurately, after the final two scenes of the play, I had to question everything that came before it.

Strangely enough, I still liked it, even though I left the theatre a bit perplexed.

OK...

So...

Apparently there's this Norwegian television program called, "Gylne Tider" ("Golden Times"). From what I can gather, they feature TV and Pop Music stars and near-stars from years past.

Here's a PROMO.

And here's a version of "Let It Be".

And "We Are The World". *There are a bunch of "Dynasty" alumni in this one.

It's kind of like a very trippy trip down Pop Culture memory lane.

I could never bring up the Promo, but I loved the other two videos.  An interesting collection of pop celebrities, and others who have already watched their 15 minutes of fame pass them by.

OOPS! Sorry, DR TCB.

Here's the proper link for the PROMO.

"Amahl" was quite well-done - no weak voices, excellent dual pianists (one of them was the church organist who played for our wedding 30 years ago), decent costumes and set.  They had a few mic problems, but that seemed to be the only thing not up to par.  The dessert theater concept was festive - assorted desserts and beverages served beforehand.  There was also a Christmas carol sing-along beforehand, led by the director, a retired vocal music teacher who's a real Pied Piper, especially with kids (Nina, DR Elmore).

Somehow - and I'm a bit afraid to admit this here, but... - I actually don't think I've ever seen a production of Amahl and the Night Visitors.  I've seen the TV movie with Stratas, but not a staged on stage version.

If you ever needed a reason NOT to be on Facebook or Twitter, this may be it:

OK--today's stupid question.  They are lip synching, aren't they?

Yesterday, I said that I'd have a report on our opening night, but some of us went out after the show and I didn't get home until about 1:30 a.m.  I didn't even turn on my computer...I just went to bed.

So, last night's opening night of "Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol" was a success!  There were still a couple of light issues (I only comment on them because I'm involved with the lights), but they were minor and we fixed them after the show.  The actors were all quite good...no one forgot any lines (although a couple weren't exactly as written ;)) and the audience really responded positively to the show.  I think that it's a great show and it'll do quite well in the rest of the run.

Is this at the same theater that we saw THE BRAIN?

No, I guess this is at the Olympia Little Theatre.

Yup.  THE BRAIN was at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts and JACOB MARLEY'S CHRISTMAS CAROL is at Olympia Little Theatre.  OLT "is the oldest live theater in Olympia and one of the oldest in Washington State."

Good to hear things went well, George. I'm sure no one in the audience noticed the minor miscues.

Thanks, but a couple were pretty obvious. ::) Tonight's show was much better...but the audience wasn't.  They certainly enjoyed it, but we couldn't tell until the show was over.
