I'm munching on a few pieces of what used to be called a Cadbury chocolate orange but they are made by a company called Terry's now.  Still delish.

these are a Christmas tradition in our house we each got one in our stocking a

We are HOME and back online!!!  Rob and Mary Linda left her parents' house in plenty of time to attend church in Lima, but ran into huge traffic back-ups and finally got there in time to meet us for lunch at Panera.  We all got here about 3pm, got comfy, and have spent a couple of hours opening presents and admiring the presents they'd opened in Michigan.

I am finally cooking my Christmas dinner-

the boneless prime rib is in the oven -- I am trying an experiment - I put the fingerling potatoes on the roasting pan rack and then rested the roast on top of them -  and I put a small amount of beef stock in the bottom of the roasting pan

I sauteed some sliced vidalia onion  in butter and then added sliced baby portbello mushrooms and beef stock and  red wine and that concoction is now simmering on the stovetop in a heavy covered skillet

We are just going to have peas as a vegetable -- I was originally going to have cauliflower casserole and mashed turnips and peas with pearl onions and mushrooms  but since we could get dinner to my folks becasue of the snow and since the Vixter and Vixdad won't eat the cauliflower or turnips and tend to be purists where their peas are concerned well...

Glad to hear that you are home safe and sound!

What did you have at Panera?  I love their soup and salad combo especially the Orchard Harvest Chicken salad: chicken, field greens, romaine, dried cherries, fresh D’Anjou pears, Gorgonzola, toasted pecans &  cherry balsamic vinaigrette paired with the cream of chicken wild rice soup.

DR Vixmom - thunderstorms included in snowy forecasts usually mean you're going to get a LOT of snow - stay safe and warm!

As soon as VAMPIRE CIRCUS was over, Ron Raines called me to gossip about yesterday's party. Their plans to drive out to Sag Harbor have been kiboshed by the storm and I think he got bored watching football. Charlotte's friend Greg came in from Long Island to visit and they've gone to see NEXT TO NORMAL.

I just had a ham and muenster cheese on whole wheat sandwich and a bowl of tomato spoup for dinner and I guess I will spend the evening surfing tv or reading more of Hugh Martin's book.

How do you see the entire amazon order history - I'd be interested to know what my first purchase was.

(In best Brit accent):  Mummy, how can we still be on page two?  You'd think it was the day after Christmas or something.

I just weet out and cleared the walk - the wind is causing some wild drifts - it was 2 foot high against the garage door and the driveway in front of the drift was entirely clear

DR Cillaliz - we had the skating on, but muted, while we opened presents.  I think I caught a glimpse of you!  Yesterday there was another wonderful skating program on NBC, "A Tribute to the Golden Age of American Skating."

I wish I could share some of our dinner with you - but the weather is such that I cannot even get some  to my folks a mile away

We picked the ring out together right before Thanksgiving.  Finding just the right red was a challenge.  Some of them are too pink and some are too brown.  We learned that the synthetic rubies are more the color I wanted, so this stone is manufactured.

My mother thought that the band ruined the show, lol.  That's exactly why I told her not to spend her money on tickets

I think my first online purchase was a plane ticket, too. Back in the days when eBay was selling Southwest tickets.

I think I'd like that kind of show better in person than on TV.  Seems to me they cut away from the skaters just as they're about to do something interesting.
