I have been in Phoenix when it was 123 degrees outside.  I have been in -90 windchill.   I didn't like either

Don't exaggerate. Our highest high was only 122.

;)
I'd rather face that than anything below O.

Not me.  You can always put lots of clothes on to stay warm. You can only take so many off to get cool
Trouble is, I put on layer after layer and never get warm. Three layers on my feet tonight and they're freezing.

I thought the snow stayed on the ground until the Chinook winds blew in the spring. Everything I knew about snow I learned from Laura Ingalls Wilder.

You will laugh at this TCB, but when I was a kid I always thought that once it snowed somewhere, it stayed until spring.

Since that was my first year in Eastern Washington, I figured that was the way it was every year.  I was surprsied the next year when the snow came and went, just like normal places.

Theoni V. Aldredge, Costume Designer of Annie, La Cage, A Chorus Line, Dead at 78.

 :'(
Sad news.

When Mia Farrow and Robert Redford made THE GREAT GATSBY, Theoni designed the costumes. A friend of mine worked on it as a beader and at one of the fittings with Farrow, she didn't like something about the costumes and asked Theoni to change it. The designer said no, and Farrow said something like "I'm the star of this movie," and Theoni replied,"On this movie I'm the star."

Found these in todays paper under SC police logs....for real.  I laughed at both but the second one was priceless

– 2:58 p.m., Jan. 13, Jackson Street: Woman is receiving phone calls and text messages from a number she doesn’t recognize. The texts tell her to leave her boyfriend because the sender is also seeing him, which the boyfriend denies.

– 9:23 p.m., Jan. 14, 2700 block of Jones Street: Caller suspects a male took the caller’s shoes off his porch this morning. The suspect was located at his own residence wearing said shoes. The shoes were returned to the caller.

Also in that dream, I had great difficulty reaching police by dialing 911. First I kept dialing the wrong number, then the operator berated me, and then no 911 operators would answer or the call just wouldn't go through.

I think I have had this occur in dreams before, along with dreams where I am unable to dial a phone number correctly, over and over.

Was elmore the operator?
I wish!

Media report - DVD: we just watched the first episode of a BBC series called NEW TRICKS.  Richard loved it and I found it OK.  Alun Armstrong, who played Threnardier in the 10th anniversary Les Mis, is in the cast.

My new tripod holds the camera still. Of course, it only works when your subject will sit still for you.

Younkers is having a huge sale, if anyone needs a comforter, they are selling down alternative comforters for 24.97.  My mom has had me order two of them for her in the past two days, along with a quilt, blankets etc.  This is much easier than the trek across town I used to make to get the things she wanted when they went on sale.   They have to drive 2 hours to get to the store.
