The latest news on my friend Richard is that he was able to respond nonverbally to a directive from the doctor, which is the first they've known he is alert. He's nowhere near being out of the woods, but that's certainly a good start.

And again, thanks for the vibes.

~~~CONTINUED VIBES FOR RICHARD!!~~~
Got a fun 2DVD Image title today from eBay called Batmania, all about the ABC Batman series.  Both docs I've watched so far have been very good, one on the show itself, the other on Adam West.
Song of Norway, in a Brazilian import edition, arrived yesterday.  I have to say for all the brickbats that have been thrown at it, it really is a gorgeous looking movie, if nothing else.
Are any of our East Coast denizens going to see LA CAGE with Harvey Ferstein and Christopher Sieber?  I would love to see that production.  I will freely admit that I have a huge crush on Christopher Sieber.  He may be a total jerk, for all I know, but I would swoon at the very chance of being in the same room with him.
Actually, Chris is a very kind and friendly person.
It is amazing!  I know only one other person in Tacoma that has even heard of THE INNOCENTS; and yet, almost everyone on this site has mentioned it.
That is why I love you guys.
First the tornado video  (already posted on Facebook) This is what was happening 45 miles from here while I was going up and down the stairs with the cats last Saturday night
http://vimeo.com/22221449
I think this may be the lady who they were looking for in the video above.  She sounds like a character
Oregon has a new law requiring carbon monoxide detectors for all rental units, which of course Betsy and I now have.  We also got a couple for the new house.
Cilla, I've had basement water issues in a couple of houses.  Sometimes it's something very simple, like a clogged or disconnected downspout which is dumping huge amounts of water next to a basement window, etc.  Even if it's seeping through the foundation there are paints you can buy that seal the cement and make the water less likely to penetrate.  If you have a high water table (which we do at the new house), you may need to put in a small sump pump (which is what we did here).
Oh sure, JMK, you have to mention your high water table, while the rest of us have to be satisfied with a regular-size dining table.
F'rinstance, Woody Allen will be the subject of a two part American Masters this fall.  Mia Farrow will narrate--not.  :)
To quote retiring Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), "This remark was not intended to be a factual statement"
The ass is retiring? Or is the public getting tired of his ridiculous statements?
On a positive note, Sara Jean has agreed to be our Virgin Mary.
Which ass?  Ben, JMK, Woody, or the good senator?
Hello, everyone.
This little piggy is home. BK and I had a lovely time at lunch, chatting and oinking. We both had a pasta dish with cream sauce and a salad. As long as you eat a salad the rest doesn't matter, right?
I am ready for a nap!
Oh, yes. Carbon monoxide detectors. I had two of them when I lived in Virginia. One kept giving false alarms. The first time I called the fire department (which gets the neighbors' attention). After that I saw no point. Although they are certainly a good idea in concept, I question how accurate they are. And they are not cheap. However, that was a number of years ago and they may have improved. My advice to Cillaliz: buy one, but still have things checked by a professional. (The ones the fire department uses, I suspect, are far more accurate.) Maybe Ginny's son has some insight here?
When the tornado hit, the high school was either just starting or in the middle of a performance of their play. The school was badly damaged so they can't do it there.  So the Orpheum in Sioux City is doing a fund raiser and the high school kids will put on their play here.  What a cool thing for them
I don't watch either of these (I wach Y&R). But this is really sad news. :(
Saturday night was going to be prom.  A local clothier is going to give all the boys tuxes with no rental cost and people are getting dresses for the girls and others are donating manicures and hairstyling.  I think it's cool that they are going to make sure the kids still get their prom
I tried watching it last year when it was shown on TCM. For one thing, the print was horrible and the performances weren't much better.  Very stagey and the sets were cheap.
Question for Ask BK Day...
If you were asked to come into audition for a show...
What would your uptempo song be?
Your ballad?
Monologue?
 Monologue - NEVER.
Thank you !  I couldn't agree more.
