DR Jose - how is your mother today?

Well...

I just called home and she answered the phone. :)

Good news, indeed!

And, of course, true to form, it was a very short phone call. ;)

Yesterday I went biking with my niece (who is just a few weeks without her training wheels). IT was interesting.

Last year someone down the street was throwing out their kids bike. So i took it. So now my niece can ride with me.

She can now start on her own. And more or less stop. Only issue is her steering. She can't really stay straight in a very small area.

So no bike path yet. She could do it as long as there were no other bikes on the path. :)
(not sure how she would get out of the way).

So we just went around the block and close by. At first i was going to just jog beside her. But I was feeling a bit under the weather and it was too hard to run beside her. The bike thing worked out well. I could stay in the middle of the street to make sure no cars got near her. And surprisingly even though we were out for an hour it didn't take much energy. Even though i was always pedalling. I wasn't going fast.

I REMEMBER JOGGING ALONG SIDE THE BOYS AS THEY RODE THEIR BIKES.  I WAS IN GREAT SHAPE BACK THEN.

I just listened to the OCR of Tne Book Of Mormon on NPR and I am Unmoved
I suppose you have to see the show to appreciate it. The Music just drones on and is so repetitive.Has anyone on this Board seen it or heard it.??
I am kind of shocked that it was nominated for so many Tony's.
By Just listening to the recording,I have no desire to see this show.

Safe trip for BK...

Just don't try to open the cabin door after the plane takes off.

 ::)

Yes, and don't rush the cockpit door.  For some reason, they don't take kindly to that...and they handcuff you and then lead you off the plane escorted by FBI agents after the plane lands.  It could seriously curtail your plans.

I didn't learn much about THE CENTURY GIRL, which opened on Nov 6, 1916, at the Century Theatre at 62nd and Central Park West, but I did get several good lines from the reviews. It had a score by Victor Herbert and Irving Berlin, and it was the last Ziegfeld rrevue to be named after the theatre in which it appeared.

One reviewer wrote "Hazel Dawn was as insipid as ever." Miss Dawn was the actress whose performance in Ivan Caryll's THE PINK LADY was the catalyst for Ruth Gordon's acting career, and she figures prominently in Gordon's biography and her biographical play, and film, THE ACTRESS.

The New York Times critic called it "something like a production of the 'Follies' magnified past calculation."

That is what I did last week. Although i dislike jogging.  But when you are a bit under the weather it is very hard to do!  Biking was a much better idea.

I, too, listened to the free "Book of Mormon." The songs are second-rate spoofs of better work. The one near the end that is supposed to sound like "Once on This Island" is particularly bad. Some of it is nice, but it all reminds you of better work.

It's definitely a show "from the creators of "South Park" and "Avenue Q" - especially of the "South Park" movie which did away with all of the "bleeps" required by the rules of broadcast television. The songs are meant to be parodies, spoofs and homages(?) to other shows and styles. I also think that the "shock value" of the score - well, the lyrics - is lessened(?) in the theater when there's book scenes between them.

In short, it's definitely not a show that everyone will like.

"Avenue Q" has a wonderful score, though. So did "South Park" the movie. "Blame Canada" is hilarious. Nothing comes close to that here.

She was always a tiny woman, but she has lost a lot of weight recently. I took her some soup. I hope she will eat it.
