Had an uneventful trip to Kroger.  Now I'm pre-cooking chicken to fry for dinner - Richard's request.

Details, please, on the pre-cooking/chicken frying process!  :)

Lots of lovely mother photos yesterday....and I must say that DH Keith and DR George's mothers were both knock-outs!

DR Jane, was your mother in law in  show business? She should been!

By the way, DR Jane, looks like I will be down your way towards the end of the month. My family voted, without my input I might ad, to be the one to take mom down to Medford for a weekend visit. Looks like it will be during the Memorial Day weekend.

Hopefully I can catch up with you, Keith, and Sherlock ....have yet to meet that big hairy beast yet, and I just want to give him a big hug!

I took a three-day weekend starting Friday past.  The evening before, I stopped at the supermarket on my way home and bought "fixin's" for potato salad, spaghetti sauce, barbecued chicken (thighs) and vegetables: Fresh Blue Lake Green Beans, fresh Okra and fresh Brussels Sprouts.

That evening, from roughly 5:15 - 8:10 p.m., I cooked the beans, made the potato salad (including the boiling of eggs to chop up for the dressing), made the spaghetti sauce and cooked the chicken for about 30 minutes and then coated it with BBQ Sauce (a Carolina sauce) and cooked it another 15 minutes.

I ate well....and have continued to eat well...since then.  I cleaned, cut and cooked the Okra on Saturday evening.  YUM!

Since I was E&T yesterday, I thought I'd share one of my favorite pictures of my mom, taken in the early 1950s:

I'm in the city that never sleeps and, much to my surprise, not in the hotel I thought I'd booked.  I thought I'd booked the hotel I was in last time, but instead I booked the hotel from a time or two before that - I loved the hotel last time, and I don't mind this hotel, but the rooms are teeny-tiny, and I know I had some real problems with some sort of noise here - we'll see how it all scopes out, but I'm going hunting for last time's hotel, just so I remember it.  Of course, this one, for NY, is almost reasonable.

This room is too small for the likes of me.  I'll just have to grin and bear it, I guess.

This made me laugh & i showed craig the photo which surprised him.  i've known her since i was 15 and until i saw this photo never knew how beautiful she was.  both her younger sisters were (one still is) stylish and glamorous while my dear mother in-law never was.  the middle sister reminded me of lana turner when i met her.  now when i look at younger photos of them all i realize it was keith's mother who was the prettiest of them all.

i've been thinking it was time you made a trip down here.  maybe by then i can take you for a hike. :)  let me know how long you will be here and how much free time you will have.  i wish i could invite you to stay here.  between my wrist and yogi i can't commit to anything right now.

No problem DR Jane, mom and I will be staying at brother Allen's.

I will know my schedule when the date get's closer. the only full day I will have will be that Sunday and we will be having some sort of family get together on that day, but I am hoping I will be free in the morning/early afternoon hours on that day.

Well...

I've spent most of today just taking it easy, as well as sending out some emails and making some phone calls. And now I need to get ready for the bus ride back up to NYC.

bk and DR elmore et al - I hope you have a good time at Joe Allen tonight. Maybe you should head upstairs to Bar Centrale afterwards for a Diet Coke to hang out with some of the wheelers and dealers. -Although, I'm not sure they go out on Monday nights. ;)

it is obviously a man-caused fire. The auto makers put ashtrays in cars for a reason.

PS How can you be sure it was not a woman-caused fire ?

I'm sure Keith will appreciate the hug, but you might want to give Sherlock a pat as well.

Care to share details?  The best we've come up with is stewing it with tomatoes or adding it to soup. The deep-fried effort was a disaster.  I really like the flavor and don't object to the texture.

So far i have not had hand surgery though i was in danger of loosing it about 20 years ago, of course due to an accident with one of my dogs.

What happened and are you ok?

Well, perhaps automakers should put them in once again.

I think driving with your butt in a tin can would be hazardous.
