JRand, I know I'm generalizing, but that's similar to the attitude I see that drives me nuts.  I see in some (not all) young people a real sense of entitlement - in the sense of they don't seem to think that they have to really work hard to get what they want, they are entitled to have it all immediately.  It drives me crazy. I think that's why I don't take the protests going on very seriously

I'm looking forward to THE IDES OF MARCH. What made you dislike it?

Oh, I don't know..part of it is just the story itself. It's one of those I've heard and seen this story line so many times that it was a little too predictable for me.   It has a fabulous cast, just not my cup of tea

When it comes to movies, I tend to be a perrenial patsy about plots. BK (MattH used to as well) will write that he saw the plot twist coming miles before it happened and I'll think, Duh! I didn't.

I hope you enjoy it.

I hope so, too! If I get to it. Charlotte and I had wanted to see OUR IDIOT BROTHER, and I think it's no longer in theatres. I'll probably miss IDES OF MARCH as well unless I simply decide to go and buy the ticket. I need a movie buddy to force me to make the move t get into a theatre.

Then after a nice trip on the C Train up to 79th Street, I stopped at the Coolhaus cart for some custom made ice cream sandwiches (with edible wrappers!): "Flapjack" Cookies with Brown Butter-Candied Bacon Ice Cream & Chocolate Chip Cookies with Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream. YUM!

Then I took a nice stroll across Central Park back to the Upper East Side.

And now, I'm giving my feet a break from all the walking I did today. :)

I guess the actual world of politics is so loopy that a fiction movie about it seems tame to me.....and only slightly less contrived.

Of course, some of the more "moderate"(?) responses about Occupy Wall Street are not getting any (further) coverage since those interviews would probably come off as too level-headed and staid. -In other words, they would not provide a good sound bite or two to make people tune in later for the full story. But there are some out there.

OK,  I'm not criticizing or judging here, I just see no connection between the complete system change or at least change of those in charge with the actions they are taking. Guess I'll just watch and see what happens.

I'm curious how Consumer's Report rates the washers & dryers I'm looking out but I'm not curious enough to pay to find out.

Jane, I think I still have an online membership to consumer reports. If you want me to compare some or send reports on particular machines I can try to get it for you

Thank you.  I will send you a few requests.

Just did something I've never done before - checked in online for a flight and printed our boarding passes.  We still have to check our bags at the airport.

What time do you and Richard have to be at the airport? Are you flying from Dayton or Cincinnati?

DR Elmore - we're on the only direct international flight still flying out of Cincinnati (which is one of the reasons companies like Chiquita are moving their corporate headquarters elsewhere).  Delta recommends arriving 3 hours before departure, so we need to be there by 3pm.

DR KevinH, I think I missed the point that you were traveling and said nothing. I'm sorry.

I'm glad you are home safe and sound!

It has been my experience working with kids today.....as in high school age and a bit older.....in theater projects.....the SOME of them....NOT ALL.....but some of them consider what ever they are working on now as just another time waster that they are participating in until their big break comes.....reality tv.....youtube viral video.....or whatever....  And they are BORED with the work and only want the result....and they are certainly not interested in "learning" anything while they work, because they already KNOW everything.

SOME not ALL.  And that's just in Indiana.....I cannot imagine the attitudes in NYC and LA.

I think I mentioned something similar a few weeks ago about young actors in this community.  When I was younger, we were thrilled just to be cast as a chorus member or the third spear carrier on the right.  Now days, if you aren't offering them a lead, a great many young actors aren't interested in being in the production.  Whatever happened to "There are no small parts, just small actors."

So...

After I had posted last night - which was after I had gotten back from the ballet - where everything indeed was beautiful - my friends, Yosh and Andy wanted to go to Brandy's. -Well, so did I. So... We went.  And three hours later... ::)

It turned out that my friend Lauren Mufson was the featured entertainer/drink-server last night. Lauren was the "Donna" for most of the time when I was on the Mamma Mia! tour. It was a very nice "reunion". And we all had an amazing time. Last night's pianist, Eric James, always dazzles me with his fingerwork and re-intrepretations and "re-grooves" of some standards.

He dazzled you with his fingerwork....................... How was his piano playing?
