Speaking of tempered glass, I was driving home from a gig the other night when the most appalling "thwack" hit my car.  I thought someone might have shot at me, so loud it was (what am I, Yoda all of a sudden?).  Checked the car thoroughly when I got home, not a sign of damage.  Well, waddaya know--two days later a spider web of cracks is appearing on my windshield.

That is kind of how my big window crack happened though the initial sound wasn't so loud.

Yikes!  I've had my car for about 13 1/2 years, and there's been a crack in the windshield for almost 10 of those years. ::) It's not in my line of sight, so I just haven't had anything done about it...and I won't until I need to.

DR Ron Pulliam - As for procuring a cocotte à pommes Anna: e-Bay.

Found a new-in-box 8" Mauviel copper cocotte a pommes Anna.....at half the price of the other listings at other sites.  Merry Christmas, Ron.

HOO and RAY!!!

So... When I take a weekend trip up to The Bay Area, you can give your new cocotte a spin! :)

My new desk arrived yesterday and will be assembled by professionals on Thursday.

DR JMK - And by "professionals", do you mean "Betsy"? Or "Gabe and Zach"?

A questions for the foodies:

Dear Foodies,
I am going to make appetizers. I have basil so I can make some pesto. What could I use the pesto for?
Spread some goat cheese on toast and put a little pesto in the center. That's easy.

You could layer a slice of baguette with a slice of tomato, a slice of mozzarella and top with pesto.

Pesto on slices of pork tenderloin served at room temperature.

Pesto on those handmade potato chips Jose was writing about.

You could also mix some with some softened cream cheese or goat cheese to make a dip/spread for crackers, pita crisps, etc.

Or drizzle some over steamed or grilled vegetables.

Zach and I have actually assembled quite a bit of the furniture in our house, but this one I contracted out.  :)

Topic of the day...

Two homemade potato dishes that I love (and that are really easy): garlic mashed potatoes and cut up potatoes that I roll in a mixture of canola oil and Lipton's onion soup mix.  Bake till crunchy and serve.  Soooo good!!

The guys aren't supposed to switch the direction of the dryer door but the one guy said it looked easy so they are doing it.  I think they ran into a problem.

;)  Honestly I wouldn't mind doing it.  Of course ask me again when I'm done doing what has accumulated while waiting for it.  Of course if I don't have a dryer door I won't be doing any laundry.

My crack was right in front of my vision & kept making me nervous.  I have friends who have had a crack for years.  If JMK & I had noticed where the window was hit & taken it directly to the glass repair they could have stopped it from spreading.

Now they are hooking up the washing machine.

These machines are much bigger than my old ones.  I'm glad I didn't go with the extra large ones that would have swallowed me.

I can see my clothes washing and how little water the energy efficient machines use.  I'm testing the machine with a small load of dishtowels.  They make pretty patterns as they spin around.  Craig set the first load up & watched with me.

I have been back from vacation since Friday night, but because my computer seems to be dying I have not been able to get onto HHW...it just doesn't want to load it, along with several other sights. IMDB takes FOREVER to load. I don't know what has happened to my machine, but it looks like it is time to get a new one.

On top of that I have a $500 car repair bill...something about wing nuts and combers or something, I don't know. It had happened to one wheel a few years back, and now is happening to the other wheel. Hyuandai can't figure out why it is happening, especially since I have so few miles on my car and I don't drive over rough roads.

So between the dying computer and the messed up car I am gonna be out at least $1000, plus the money I am sending to the actress friend to help her get through the month...it is  beginning to look like my NYC trip in April is just not going to happen.

JMK, I REALLY like that desk! Probably out of my price range....and I don't even want to have to put one together.

My current desk was $9.99 at the Goodwill and was put together by professionals back in the 1950s. I think it will do, for now.

Did the four-mile jog, ate some lunch, did some banking, picked up some packages and have had a telephonic conversation that, in principal, means we have a deal for Kritzerland to issue a major cast album from a new musical - not a hit, unfortunately, and already closed, but a nice score by people I really like.  So, if the word of its composer, who paid for the recording, is anything to go by - "We have a deal."  We're meeting on Monday to iron out all the salient points - if it's all a go, I think we'll get it out in about six to eight weeks time.  They had a booklet designed at a cost of 6K that they asked if I would pick up the cost for.  I told them they could keep it as a nice souvenir, since I don't pay anywhere near that figure - ANYWHERE near, and we do really nice booklets.  This will be a long one, as they want the lyrics in, but 6K - people are a little insane, but if they find people who don't know better this is what happens.  From what I'm being told about the album production, I probably could have saved them anywhere from 50 to 100K had I done it from the get-go.  While the mix is not that pleasing to me, we'll try to help it in the mastering, but knowing what the producer was paid, it's a little shocking what he delivered.

Congrats, BK!  That's exciting.  Can you give us a hint?  Was it from this past season?  Was it on Broadway?  Would those be obscure enough hints?? :D
