For some reason i never feel like reading when i'm under the weather.

Too bad.  I find focusing on suspense novel easier when I don't feel well.

I started reading again today. I have 2 books from the library plus the one i am reading from the library.

Plus 2 ebooks i really want to read in the next 2 weeks.

Plus I won a copy of Insurgent (the sequel to the highly acclaimed dystopian Divergent). So i really want to read that. But i think it's like 600 pages long.

I had to give back a bunch of new release library books that i really want to read. I'll have to take them out again in a few weeks when i've caught up.

I wonder who will get voted off of American Idol tonight? I hope it's not Phillip. I know he's not the best singer of the four left. But there is something about him. He has so much star quality and charisma. I love watching him sing. I love the sound of his voice. And i love the quirky way he sings. Plus he is so cute! :)

Thursday morning greetings!  We had a delightful early Mother's Day dinner last night with my Mom and Rob & Mary Linda at Montgomery Inn.  The ribs, as usual, were delicious.  I gave my Mom some 8x10 (so she can see them) prints of some photos from our recent trip to Michigan and Rob & ML gave me a UC thermal coffee mug to replace the one Rob lost at work.  He'd given me the original for my birthday his freshman year (2004).

I think it is much better to have an early Mother's Day lunch, restaurants are too crowded on the actual day.
How right you are. The  worst day of the year to eat out is Mother's Day. Valentine's Day is next.

We don't go out for that one either.  If I'm lucky Craig will cook me something yummy on Sunday.

A few weeks isn't a long wait for new books.  I give my library eBooks priority.  I have this fear of the book disappearing just as I'm about to finish reading it.

Nook readers, I finished reading MILA 18 by Leon Uris and I noticed it is tagged "lend me" which means you can borrow it for free.

Well, I'm off to a union meeting.  We had to split our union into two separate groups...the base (non-supervisor) unit and the supervisor unit.  The supervisor unit has fewer members.  It's all very new so we'll see what happens tonight.

Be back later.

If you love MGM musicals and, especially, the Conrad Salinger sound that goes hand-in-hand with them, I invite you to check this out.  It's from the 2011 BBC Proms (late last August).

  This Heart of Mine

John Wilson and his orchestra!

Matthew Ford is the vocalist.  The number lasts about 9 minutes.  Ford sings the opening 3 minutes and the rest of pure MAGIC.

John Wilson is a friend of mine! I mentioned having coffee with hm about a month ago. If you have a nonregional DVD payer, his Rodgers & Hammerstein and Hollywood Proms concerts are really fine.

I have the DVD of proms Celebration of MGM Musicals, but I've not found the R&H one.  I do have an all-region blu-ray player.

Wilson is beyond fabulous.  He has an ear that gets things RIGHT!

ABC has renewed a slew of its most popular returning series Thursday ahead of making any new pickups.

Producers on four dramas--"Once Upon A Time," "Grey's Anatomy," "Castle," "Revenge"--and three comedies "Modern Family," "The Middle" and "Suburgatory" all received official notification they're getting another season.

Not on the list but still not counted out: "GCB."

None of the renewals are a surprise.

More to come...

Any news on BODY OF PROOF?  We'd heard that its status was questionable because, even though popular, it didn't have the right demographic.

Speaking of John Wilson, here he is conducting while DR elmore's friend Kim Criswell does a great rendition of "Climb Every Mountain":

Interesting detail in "Time After Time": Patti D'Arbanville plays one of Jack the Ripper's victims in the movie and she has the original "Follies" poster hanging in her bedroom.
