Made dinner tonight with the other two men here. We went off to the markets while the women shopped. Started with a Caprese salad made with fresh mozzarella and burrata as well as basil, olive oil and balsamico. We also toasted some rosemary bread with spice olive oil to go with it.

Second course: roasted chicken with rosemary and sage from the garden under the skin, a five cheese macaroni and cheese with garlic-toasted bread crumbs on top, and sauteed zucchini.

The dessert was cheeses with chocolate, honey, nuts and fresh strawberries.

And of course there were wines and my new fixation, Cynar, which is a bitter liqueur you mix with orange, lemon, peach soda, you name it. Plus, some grappa and other stuff I didn't get into.

That's about all the news from here, other than it rained today. Yet we still had an amazing sunset. Don't know yet if it came out on my camera. Imagine looking out in the rain over a far mountain peak and seeing a small strip of yellow in the middle in which the sun was setting while the sky on top was gray to black.

I've just been so lazy today, but it's a needed kind of day off, since I worked all weekend.  I've done a few things, but that's about it.

DR ChasSmith, when you run out of Bert I. Gordon you will need to start checking out Roger Corman, Fred F. Sears, and Edward L. Cahn movies....JRand61 and I will be your guide!

I have some from all of those, but most probably have not watched them all yet.

Hmmm...first  foreign language movie...the two earliest that I recall seeing are the Czech film VOYAGE TO THE END OF THE UNIVERSE and the Japanese film KING KONG ESCAPES. Both were dubbed, and I was probably in about 2nd  grade when I saw each of them.

I don't think I saw a subtitled film until I was in Jr High, and it was something shown on the local PBS station. Might have been the Polish film KNIFE IN THE WATER or the German film M.

Ditto here as well.  Sometimes it feels weird, though, like I should be doing something.

Have caught up with DR Jrand's exciting news and look forward to the running commentary.

It seems, reading DR Jrand's posts, I need to read DR Ben's as well.

Had the most incredible mushroom lasagna today with housemade noodles so rich in egg that you had to taste it to believe. And the mushrooms were spectacular.

It sounds delicious.

About a year ago, in Atlanta, I had coffee with one of my Facebook Vera Bradley friends, Amy.  She wiped out yesterday on her bicycle and is hospitalized with a broken jaw, lacerated chin, a skull fracture, and brain swelling.  And, yes, she was wearing a helmet!  Vibes for her would be appreciated.

VIBES FOR YOUR FRIEND AMY, AND VIBES SHE DOESN'T LOSE HER BEAUTIFUL SMILE!!!

Oh dear! Vibes for Ginny's friend Amy. I used to do lots of cycing around London for many years but only had one bad fall when I broke my arm.

Thank you, DR Doug R!  I'd been thinking about dusting off my bike and helmet and doing some riding myself.  However, with all the blood thinners I'm on, injuries like Amy's could be fatal for me.  Think I'll stick to studio cycling at the Y...

I don't dare ride because of my bones.  I never want a repeat of anything like my shoulder injury.

Update on my friend Amy - the neurosurgeon has released her, meaning no closed-head injury, but now they've discovered a torn knee ligament and bone chip.

At least there is some important good news.

Damnation! My invoice check is late and I need to book a trip to the LoC to look at 1916-1917 copyright dates tomorrow - well, ASAP. This leak situation only compounds the problem. I need drugs. Or alcohol. The sex won't help this mess.

In reference to absolutely nothing, here's a picture that I randomly came across, called "Fixing signal":

The hail started to ease up just before Craig got out of his car.  It looks like patches of snow outside.  I'm sure the sun will quickly melt it.
