Continued moving vibes to DR Elmore.

I hate moving. Prior to the move I know where everything is. After the move--ugh! Many years ago I learned to pack up nonessentials early, with the boxes marked as such, then mark the real essentials accordingly, too, so I know which boxes to unpack right away, and which can wait. That does help.

I read the posts last night and kept thinking about how much I miss all the weather drama on the East Coast, when viola! it started to rain. Thunder even! It didn't last long, though. It's now clear and sunny.

I have to call a friend of mine in Ohio whose son died of a stroke this week.  That's later today.

Larry, my condolenses to your friend. :'(

I was really hurting when I woke up this morning, but after my meds had a chance to kick in, I felt pretty good.  I'm going to try to switch to Aleve tonight and see if it works.  If so, I'll go to work tomorrow and try to catch up

I decided to look around at other cars instead of just getting  another Prius.  Every car I looked at was missing something I really loved about my Prius.  So, I looked at all the options on the 2012 Prius' and decided that there was one on the dealer's lot here in town that has everything I want.   So, I went to the dealership. I know the people there and have gotten my last two cars there.  They were great.  They let me put the car on hold without a deposit until my insurance money comes it.  So they'll hold it on the lot and I'll buy it when the money comes it.  I'll be able to put enough down from the insurance money that my payment will actually be a lot lower than it was now.  I am happy.

I also searched the internet for ideal price points etc and got the car for just a little over invoice.  I'm happy with that

It has cooled off. Temps in the 70s but the humidity is high. I'll live with it.

Off to work.

I spoke to Craig a little bit ago and he wishes it would cool off in Maryland.

This amazing photo was posted all over Twitter last night:

The pic was taken by ex-Giants linebacker Dhani Jones whose flight had just taken off from LaGuardia.

Cool.

This week I finished reading the book FULL SERVICE written by DR MBarnum's boyfriend Scotty Bowers.  It was an interesting book.  I wish there was some way to know which parts of the book were factual and which ones were extensions of Mr. Bowers' imagination.  In particular, I wonder about his assertion that the romance between Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn was a total fabrication of the studios and the press agents.

Well, since Hepburn was a lesbian . . .

Well, that is what Scotty says, too.

Only the intimation I got was that she was Tracy's beard.

Well, Scotty said he fixed Katherine up with over 150 women.

I'm always very suspicious of these books that scandalize famous people after they are dead.

There are a lot of Downton Abbey people nominated for the Emmys: Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley), Brendan Coyle (John Bates), Jim Carter (Mr. Carson) , Michelle Dockery (Mary), Joanne Froggatt (Anna), Maggie Smith.

And everyone of them, IMHO, is worthy of the nomination.

Jean Hagan is amazing in Singin' in the Rain. Her "I ain't people ..." speech is one of the funniest things ever captured on film. No matter how many times I see that movie, she reduces me to tears of laughter in that one.

I remember reading this on IMDb in the trivia section for the movie:

Quote
The role of the ditzy movie diva Lina Lamont was written with Judy Holliday in mind. Holliday was a close friend of Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and they even modeled the character on routines they had worked up with Holliday back when they were part of a satirical group called The Revuers in New York. Timing was everything, however, and the idea of casting Holliday was vetoed after she hit it big in Born Yesterday. Everyone figured she'd be uninterested in the supporting part but, as it turned out, the lovely Jean Hagen, Holliday's understudy on Broadway for "Born Yesterday", got the part.

I loved Jean Hagen in the role, but I alway wonder what Judy Holliday would've been like.

At least as good.

I want to like Judy Holliday, who supposedly had an affair with Katharine Hepburn, thus tying all these strings together, too much on the screen, so I would probably have more sympathy for Lina. And I think that would work against the character.

Excellent point.

I was just reading the flap that certain comments by the founder of Chick-fil-A made about marriage and, I guess, against gay marriage has caused.  We don't have Chick-fil-A around here, so I have never eaten in one.  Is chicken the only thing they serve?

I've been watching for a report on how you feel.  Are you a bit skittish when in the car?

That's great.  Will this car be an improvement over the previous one?  What color did you choose?
