I find Penn Station fascinating in its weirdly designed complexity, though truth to tell, I've only had reason to go in there a couple of times and those were years ago.  But I dearly love exploring that kind of urban infrastructure and I should get me down to NYC to do it a little more often.

I just finished reading a story on AOL about the new additions to the New York Subway System that are currently under construction; especially the large station being built underneath Grand Central Station.  If this wasn't February, I would swear the whole article was an April Fool joke.

It's been pouring with rain all day but, as forecast, the rain has now turned to heavy snow.

Britain is in a panic because horse meat is being discovered in various ready-made food products (a lasagne described as 100% beef was found to be 100% horse!) so I thought I'd make my own home made burgers. This is the result:

Has anyone consdered opening a new restaurant in London called Ascot Burgers?

Two of the projects are subway related but the big one is actually for the Long Island Railroad. The Number 7 Line which has just a few stops in Manhattan and then goes deep into Queens is being extended from 42nd Street to 34th Street and all the development going on in that area. The 2nd Avenue Subway, which has been talked about for decades is actually being constructed and will, at some point, find it's way downtown.

The other project is to divert some trains from the LIRR, which right now just terminates in Penn Station, to Grand Central. It will make commuting much easier for many people coming in from the Island although it won't be finished for quite a while.

Neil Simon must have fallen out of fashion late 80's/90's because the "big screen" adaptations of his plays were done for the small screen and he even did tv remakes and not for the better. Broadway Bound, London Suite, Jake's Women, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Odd Couple Remake, Plaza Suite remake, Sunshine Boys remake, Barefoot in the Park remake, The Goodbye Girl remake and Rumors but done for French TV

I thought from the mid 80's onwards his original screenplays were awful: The Marrying Man, The Slugger's Wife, The Lonely Guy, The Odd Couple II (Which I believe is his last original screenplay)

Be careful what you say, Mike, or the current Mrs. Simon will beat the crap out of you.

And from what I understand Ms. Joyce-Simon suffers no fools. Except her husband's "Fools."

Off for a nap. It's been weird, but I stopped taking my decongestants yesterday and these past two days have been a sluggish blur. I think my body is craving the non-drowsy formula that it's not receiving.

I don't know those other two plays at all, but the one time I saw RUMORS, I laughed my arse off just the way you hope to at one of those things, and I look forward to having that pleasure again someday.

The people at the top were great. But the ones at the bottom are clueless. I go down the hill with my niece so i can control the sled. It would go too fast otherwise. And if I go I can make sure there is nobody in the path

As we were coming down one time this kid in the lane beside us just stood there while another kid was coming down. He whacked the kid coming down with his sled. Were the parents there? The kid was maybe six. And the people supposed to be watching weren't even looking.

And for the first year they were charging for taffy on the snow. Crazy. Everything has always been free except the hot dogs. The horse drawn carriage and the bouncy toys and the taffy was always free. This year they wanted a dollar for one little popsicle stick of taffy. Thank goodness i had put some money in my pocket. That is my niece's favorite thing.

Here is the link for

Dress Circle WWFM

Keep it for future reference. For instance, you might know of someone who will appear on, say March 17 (Saint Patrick's Day), talking about an old but recently restored Victor Herbert musical called "Eileen"

thank you!

Good morning, all! I am up too early, but I need to discover the geography of New Jersey Transit at Penn Station this morning before I get lost there tomorrow trying to get to Hamilton,NJ.

I have nothing else to report at this time. I will check in from Toyland.

Break a leg!

Greetings from Toyland!  Once I discovered NJ Transit in Penn Station, I realized that I'd been there before, with either DR FJL or Skip. I believe it may be when we went to see Maureen Silliman in THE GLASS MENAGERIE.

My ticket would have been $30 roundtrip  but with my senior discount it was only $13.50! I am fully informed and set for tomorrow.

You old fogies and your discounts  living off the sweat and tears of we  hard working youngsters!!

I have been hearing about this all week - I understand from the news reports that the source of most of the horse meat is France and that it is  common to eat horse meat in France , is that true?
