I watched a very funny show on IFC last night called SPOILS OF BABYLON - it is purportedly a television miniseries from 1979..... The director comes on and talks about the episode before it's shown.... It is very funny. I guess Thursday at 10 p.m. will be its regular time.

It is highly recommended by the likes of me - including lines such as:

This episode is about the horrors of World War Two taken from my own horrible experiences.....reading about the war when I was child....

I, for one, just came from singing a memorial service.

The deceased, a friend of the family, was almost 90. He was a professional saxophone player, and so his widow requested all kinds of wonderful American songbook standards to honor him. These wouldn't normally be sung at a church service, but it sure was fun to do it!

BK is most fortunate to have his choice of plumbers. Here we must call the manager and schedule with The Neanderthal, if, that is, he chooses to actually return our calls. Then we are yelled at by him for causing the problem, even when it has nothing to do with us. It's one of the perks of living here.

No, not sporting at all. When ye olde back won't function I try to lose myself in a good novel. Thus, novels are on my mind.

As for A CONSPIRACY OF PAPER by David Liss, it truly is one of my favorites. Mr Liss is not only adept at fiction, he knows so much about Jewish history and also about the evolution of the financial markets. All of this is woven together very well. A very impressive work, IMHO.

My acupuncturist was saying the same thing today. She said last year was the year of the snake and told me to shed my old snake skin. I did so and put it in the medical waste bin, so as not to scare other patients.
