Is anyone watching "House of Cards"?  Because I started, and I'm hooked.

Page 4 dance!

DR Matthew, referring to the movie "Young Frahn-ken-steen", and putting it into the context of 1974, the casting of Peter Boyle was really brilliant as he had just been seen in two tough crime dramas, "Joe" and "Crazy Joe".  (In essence, he is sort-of brought back from the dead from those previous movies.)  I'm sure this is old news to others, but I recently put this together along with the edgy choice of Marty Feldman, as he was "near beer" Monty Python having worked with Cleese and Chapman, but had not broken through despite a short-lived comedy series.

Good luck with the show!

Reminds me of "Stately Wayne Manor" (of things).  Or, was I not "Down"ton enough? ;)

That was a sad story DR GEORGE.....what kind of taxes could they owe?  Weren't they a non-profit....or was it payroll taxes?

I assume that it has to do with payroll.  They hired everyone...staff, actors, tech people, directors, designers, etc., so I guess they weren't non-profit. :-\

And THAT'S what comes from men and women dancing.

With a capitol "D," which rhymes with "P," that stands for POOL!

DR George - it's actually a Fiddler reference.  But I like yours, too.      :)

You can pay people and still be a nonprofit. Payment of artistic staff has nothing to do with 501(c)(3) status.

The new book cover design is rather Benjamin Kritzeresque, which I find quite appropriate, even though I haven't read the new book. I am indeed looking forward to it.

It's free association...I knew that it wasn't a "Music Man" reference.

Just not as funny as I'd thought. ::)

Jason Graae plays Huckleberry Haines? I'm not clever enough to think of something witty, but it does seem like a good set-up: Jason Graae, HHW, Guy Haines.

I just looked at their website (it hasn't been updated since last year, but it's still on-line), and they say that they are (were) "the premier non-profit arts education and musical theater performance space in Olympia, Washington."

So they were non-profit...but they did pay a lot of people.

Thanks for the vibes DR TCB

I'm home from a short hike, tea with a friend, and errands.  The water is back on and they are currently installing the hot water heater :)

Once they are done I can run the dishwasher.

Glad to hear it's almost done. Plumbing problems can be such a drag!

I watched "Gravity" on Blu ray disc last night.

I ordered it because I thought it would be right up my alley.

It wasn't.  I'm just not cut out for edge-of-my-seat suspence and histrionics.

Fast-forwarded through some of it.  Beautiful photography, though.

I haven't seen it. I expected to have the same reaction to it as you described.

You're referring to the Kevin Spacey version? I watched season 1. I was a big fan of the BBC version with Ian Richardson, which I still prefer. The two versions are different enough that I think someone could enjoy both.

Fortunately this one was too inconvenient.  It is a great concern that too much water was lost with the leaks and then wasted repairing the problems.

My dishwasher is now running with HOT water.

I agree.  I do not like either lead actor and would not watch the movie for that reason alone.

TOD:

BK,

Who is your favorite Author?

I don't really have a single favorite.  There are many authors I love, including Harper Lee, George Orwell, William Golding, Cornell Woolrich, Raymond Chandler, Ross MacDonald, early Stephen King, and many, many others.
