Great looking book cover art BK!Ask BK Day:Did you ever have the opportunity to meet and/or talk with Hugo Montenegro? I am a big fan of what orchestrators/arrangers do and he was among the best. To me, it's always fascinating to hear different arrangers, stylists, etc. take the same melody and each make it their own. For example, I enjoy the numerous "takes" on "September Song" that have been recorded over the years.
DR Ginny, how's DS Rob's job search going?
Quote from: Jeanne on February 26, 2014, 04:36:01 PMDR Ginny, how's DS Rob's job search going? Thanks for asking, DR Jeanne. We're not at liberty to disclose details yet, but he had a final interview today and received an offer!
I got on a Jules Dassin kick recently, and within the past few weeks have watched Brute Force, Thieves Highway, Night and the City, and, just now, Rififi. Of those, I'd only ever seen the latter before. Great stuff.
And thanks to all for the nice comments on the cover art.
ASK BK DAY:DA Bruce: On Kritzerland, you have reissued improved versions of soundtracks that had been part of the Ryko/MGM series. Are there any titles from that series that you feel should be given the Kimmel touch?
ASK BK DAY:Dear Administrator Bruce, would you list what you consider to be the most underappreciated actors, directors and movies (past or present)?
He's very pleased, DR Jane!

Many underappreciated directors - Frank Perry, Anthony Mann, Preminger, Martin Ritt, etc. Way too many movies.

The director, Rene Clair, also directed the best version of "Ten Little Indians" ("And Then There Were None"). To tie in with the Irish flavor theme of the other day, Barry Fitzgerald was excellent in that film.
Quote from: Matthew on February 26, 2014, 02:38:29 PMIs anyone watching "House of Cards"? Because I started, and I'm hooked. You're referring to the Kevin Spacey version? I watched season 1. I was a big fan of the BBC version with Ian Richardson, which I still prefer. The two versions are different enough that I think someone could enjoy both.
