I am heading toward 5000 and I am glad to see DRCHARLESPOGUE back at HHW - I am guessing his computer problem was solved.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....there is something I must scan for his perusal.

This would be a good evening to do it!

And so I shall.

Back in a bit with a surprise!

Aha!   ;D

Instead of a dance to celebrate our new page......to celebrate Mr Charles Pogue's return....here is a poster....for a movie that I never got to see....but I was fascinated and intrigued as a 10 year old by the ads!

This may put us slightly into CinemaScope....

"June is bustin' out all over..." What's not to love? ...Wonder if there was German money involved?

Mary Kay Letourneau (sp?) is on 20/20 right now.  It's also Barbara Walters' last 20/20 ever.

She's (MKL) is from Washington State.  That's the only reason that I mention it. :-\

DRPANNI judging by the credits - I would say JA to the German money question.

Those 20/20 interviews are so strangely edited....I haven't watched one for years....

I do remember when Barbara jumped from NBC to ABC for One Million Dollars a year....whew that was quite the story!

This Mary Kay story is so bizarre... She thought she'd have to do "community service" for having sex with her 12-year-old student!

Speaking of the title of today's notes....

all those many years ago when we rushed to see BYE BYE BIRDIE! at the drive in....and they sang that song

At the end Birdie (Jesse Pearson) sang what we was sure was a BAD word never heard on the screen....we listened closely, bought the record...and thought HE SAID IT!!!

He sings: "Let's kick this hick town into High!"

But we were sure he sang the "s" word and NOT "hick".....whew!

Good Evening!

Back from the show... And a very good show it was tonight!  We were technically Sold Out, but once the lights came up, I did notice a couple of empty seats.  Ah, well... We had a very good audience, and even had some "repeaters" in the audience - meaning, this was their second time seeing the show.

DR Pogue was their with his DW Julieanne.

DR PennyO even ended up showing up tonight!  *I feel a little bad for not being able to spend more time with her after the show...  But it was great finally getting to meet her even if it was just for a few moments.  We'll have to get together in NYC, DR PennyO!

My brother, Jay, had a wonderful time.  And he even got most of the "in" jokes.  -I'll have to thank my Mom for dragging all four boys to the theatre every now and then when we were kids.  It was also nice catching up with my brother too.  His move down to San Diego seems to be agreeing with him, and it turns out he is now making a lot more money in his job, and he actually works less than he did before.  Score!  It also turned out that his new boss is a former grade school/high school classmate and family friend.  We had a nice dinner before the show, and we even checked out the West Hollywood Target just for kicks since we had some time before heading to the theatre.  He had to head back right after the show since he has to be at work tomorrow at 7:00am(!), but with the way he drives, he'll probably be back in San Diego in about two hours(!!!!).  -He was estimating it would take him about an hour and 45 minutes... and since I did the drive with last year, he'll probably make that time.

Another professional colleague of mine also came tonight.  Barbara was/is the show director for Universal Studios, and I met her last year when I was here.  She's also a producer (Rent, Avenue Q, among others) - and she's helped me get house seats from time to time for shows in NYC. :)  We have a bunch of mutual friends, and we'll be lunching tomorrow at Chin-Chin to talk the talk and dish the dirt.  I can't wait!  Oh, and she loved the show!  And she also brought her friend, Kirby Tepper - who happens to know BK!.

So, all in all, a very good day, and a very nice evening.  I was actually a little worried right before the show began when I heard that the show was sold out.  I wanted to make sure my brother could get in.  -Thank You, No-Shows!  I also started feeling a little funny stomach-wise, but it all settled down by the time I stepped out on stage.  Whew!

And as I get ready for my last full day in L.A... And my last performance of What If? (at least for this run, fingers-crossed)...

Did you get some See's, DR Panni?

DR DivaRobbie - MTI licenses a very nice "alternate" version of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND.  There are options for expanding the cast, and also for making the subject a bit more universal, so to speak.  There's actually some nice variations in it.

I did the show a few years ago with a Teen Summer Theatre Camp that was open to "regular" kids as well as those with special needs (physical and mental).  Our Ti Moune was deaf.  And her signing was absolutely beautiful and moving.  -And this "device" also allowed us to cast a "singing Ti Moune".  Consequently, the whole social class issue became one of the hearing world vs. the non-hearing world.  There was never a dry eye in the house.

DRJOSE is so right!

I have found that signing a song (if not most of them) adds a new element to a scene or show that is difficult to describe.....it's a feeling that something new is happening.....you are "hearing" the song for the first time, no matter how many times you have listened to it.
"Seeing" a song is a VERY emotional experience!

AAA?

*It is dead-dead?  Or is there enough juice in it to get it jump-started so you can drive your car to the shop?  You may want to try it again in the morning.  I've had two car batteries die in the summer, and the heat contributes to it's demise.  However, if you're able to get to the battery before the temperature of the day heats up, then you may be able to jump it.  Now, if you're battery is bulging, then it's probably best to let it be.

And here I will use sign language to say something not fit for a family site.
