We had a bad rain storm last night so I had to sign off early.

We're in the season for them.

Gotta go!

Have a wonderful pain free day all!

Good morning, all!  I've been up since around 6:10 am, but I had to catch up on all I missed yesterday.  DRJane, I loved the photos of Bogie and Bacall!  What beautiful kittens.

DRMattH, I believed you mentioned doing a bio of Charles Walters; did you know he was one of Cole Porter's boyfriends in the 1930s?  He began as a ballroom dancer with Dorothy Fox, and when he was cast as the Prince in JUBILEE, Miss Fox had to be given a role in the show: she had an Act Two Scene Three dance, which has never been  recorded, but which is one of the two beautiful Ravel-inspired dances Porter composed for the show.

DRCharles Pogue, I look forward to all of HERCULES on DVD.  I caught bits and pieces of the broadcast, but my preoccupations and anxieties prevented all mental or emotional absorption of it.  Hopefully, I will be able to rave about it when I can lay hands on a more faithful representation of what you conceived.

And now to my update: the phone rang at 7 this morning, and I knew it was either my Father or a wrong call.  Surprise! It was my Father checking on me.  Here's what I told him:  I woke up around 2 am in great pain, and I was up and down the rest of the night.  Around 3, I took two more Tylenol with codeine, and I have to go out in a bit and pick up a prescription for Vicodin.

I'll be lying down most of the day, watching DRJRand54's tape and whatever else catches my fancy.  I have the feeling, from today's pains, that I won't be going far from the apartment before Friday.

Good vibes & viewing to DRELMORE.

Yes, let's bring on the HERCULES dvd!

Wednesday....my question for ASK BK day:

Are there any episodes of favorite television series that you do NOT like:

IE.  I do not like the I LOVE LUCY episodes that deal with Little Ricky learning to play the drums, having stage fright, or going to nursery school, or the one with Jay Novello as a nervous man who rents the Ricardo's apartment, or "The Hollywood Anniversary".  I also do NOT like any television episode of any series that features Sterling Holloway, who irritates me in the most horrible way.

DR elmore - Enjoy your "vacation".  *Or at least take an extra Tylenol with codeine...

;)

In any case...

Once again, welcome home.  Kick your feet up, and relax!

I'm asking!  I asking!...

BK - Since Little Women will be closing on Broadway this weekend, do you think you're gonna try to catch one of the final performances?

;)

*And I really have to wonder if the tour is going to go...

Oh... And speaking of shows....  I heard some great "stuff" about Lennon and 700 Sundays last night.  It appears, Mr. Crystal is a truly generous man.

Hmmm...  Something tells me that "The Drunk Ass Gay Boy Giving Advice and Commentary to the Drunk Ass Straight Boy Last Night On the Subway" will NOT be the title of BK's next book.

Well... Maybe I'll use it then!!!

I can't remember if this has been asked before, but...

Is there any artist/group whose catalog of songs you think would actually make a good "jukebox musical"?  Something with a real plot and not just a revuesical?

That's right, Little Women is closing. Not even hanging around until after the Tonys which means they think the buzz is correct and Sutton Foster will not win for Best Actress in a Musical and since there were no other nominations for the show, oh, well.

I missed the chance a few weeks ago to hear what was supposed to be the score for Little Women before the producers decided to drop it and use the score currently being heard. York Theatre Company had a reading of the show using a different book and the Richard Rodgers Award Winning (I believe that's the award it won) score. Alas, I was busy the night they were doing the reading and I could not attend. I wanted to hear the difference because, IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) the score is one of the weaker parts of the current show. You shouldn't call a song "Astonishing" when it isn't. You open yourself up to catty remarks ;-)

Ah, well. I am looking forward to the small soiree this Saturday evening w/Mr. Elmore and Mr. Rodzinski and Mr. Kimmel at Mr. Allen's.

Back to Work!

Why is this the LAST "Ask BK Day"?????  :o

Will you never more answer questions put to you?  :(
Will we be  prohibited from ever again asking questions?  :-X
What if it is information we really need and only you know the answer?   ???

Oh this is so distressing. :-\

Greetings, all.  Sorry to have been E&T the last couple of days.

But my return does bring a question for Ask BK Day:

Has there ever been a movie that you have seen once and only once, and refrain from seeing ever again because you feel that in its initial viewing, the circumstances were so perfect for you to love the movie that you fear any subsequent viewing would ruin what you feel was a near-perfect experience?  (Of course, the movie itself doesn't have to be any great work of art...:) )

I am sorry that Little Women is closing.  My mother, (the Vixnana) and the Vixter and I had a wonderful time, the acting was good and the story was reasonably true to the book I loved since I was a girl.  It did not have a strong scpore that is true. There were no songs that we sang or hummed as we left the theatre. I bought the CD for the Vixter and she has played it several times, including in and out of the city this past Saturday and for the life of me I still cannot recall a song from it.

I would take the Vixter to see it again though, because the show did have a lot of "heart".  Unfortunately we won't get that chance.....

For "Ask BK Day":

1) Which performance of DRAT, THE CAT will you be atttending?  We will be there Saturday night.

2) Will the Guy Haines CD have a "hidden track" which has come to be a feature on so many BK-produced CDs?

I took my computer into Best Buy last evening to have a new DVD burner installed...so hopefully after work today I will once again be able to burn some DVDs!!

It was strange not having my computer around the house, however...I would think of something to look up on the internet and then suddenly I would realize I could not do that since my computer was gone! I didn't like that.

Well, the Vicodin's kicking in, and I don't care about a thing!  DRJRand54, your tape is quite bizarre and very entertaining!  I must say, I'm not a fan of Miss Farmer's singing voice; it's unusual.  The pitch is okay, but it seems to me she's having a hard time connecting it all.   There's a current Target commercial with such off-pitch, unpleasant singing that I wonder how low the Target ad agency's standards are.  Still, I enjoyed the Ed Sullivan excerpts, and I'm into the Linda Darnell epic.

I have the feeling with this Vicodin, even a test pattern would amuse me for hours.

Thanks for this information! I did not know this, but I can't say I'm surprised. Charles (Chuck to his friends) was a beautiful young man, and with that dancer's body, well, . . . .

I hope you can get plenty of rest and that your recovery will be swift and sure.

I've spent a busy morning getting ready for my houseguest. He's only staying one night, but things need tidying up regardless.

Remember the fellow I helped pack up and move last fall (he moved to Portsmouth, Virginia). Well, he's my house guest, and the signs right now are that he's moving back to Charlotte. It will be great to have him back in my life as a dear and loving friend who will happen to live close by rather than many hours away.

Tonight, I will be most errant and truant...and truant and errant.  A local community theater is doing La Cage Aux Folles and my ticket is for tonight.  I've been hearing really good things about this production, so I'm really looking forward to it.  I have a couple of cast recordings (OBC & OGermanC) but have never seen it.  So, tonight I will!
