WELL - the Open House was all right, except that the director, my cousin, didn't give the Rugrats a call time, so they started coming at noon and eating cookies as quickly as I could set them out.

I saw humpty dozen paper cups and paper plates disappear into the theatre and NEVER saw one come back out!

The show looks a bit scary, but there you are...OLIVER! with every kid in town, every era of costume, and accents from Cockney to Appalachia.  And all for just $8!!!

I could cast my show with the people who showed up today, but I am hoping I get at least one more GOOD female lead choice tomorrow night.
Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the vibes everyone.  Wonder how MATTH is doing?

Well this is quite a frenzy, BUT - I thought of my absolute favorite Frank Sinatra song, and was sure it would chosen by the time I got home but it was NOT.

Young At Heart, from the movie of the same name co-starring Miss Doris Day.

They also were handing out a new M&MAZING Candy Bar, which is like a chocolate bar filled with mini m&ms. The peanut butter one was most excellent.

DR SWoody, your rice comments always make me laugh.

Here is a photo showing the inside of the sanctuary after our first event. I am pleased to say that the room makes our singing sound very good! Libraries do not make for good singing.

Lovely sanctuary DR LAURA!

Of course DRGINNY - I am directing a mystery-comedy-thriller by Peter Colley titled I'LL BE BACK BEFORE MIDNIGHT....fingers crossed that I can make it live up to its potential.

Who is the mysterious Pretzel?  Is it Elvis Pretzel?

I'm betting that it's DR Sandra.  Just a hunch.

That's what I thought initially, but everyone who attended last night denied even hearing the word Pretzel was mentioned.

Unless...unless...

PRETZEL!

Pretzel, as stated much earlier in the notes, was my nickname for dear reader Jane, when we were MUCH younger.

Let's not achieve a new all-time low.

Hmmmmmmm....since everyone here has seen so much and done so much theatre, and this will be my first time working on this particular show....

Strengths and weaknesses of PIPPIN, please.  Ideas for staging, costuming, and characters always appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It was rainy again today - when I left it wasn't.  It was quite nice, so I didn't wear a coat or bring an umbrella.  Of course, just before Drat started, the rains came.  Not like last night's, not too much, but still, after the show I had to sprint over to Joe Allen so I wouldn't get soaked.

The key word to remember with Pippin, which most directors completely don't understand, but which Fosse understood brilliantly, is "magic" as in Magic to Do.
