Now this is a cat story that’s hilariously insane.

Up from a nap. My tooth has started hurting again. Ugh.

:(  I am sorry.  Do you have an appointment with the surgeon?

;D  At first it seemed like an easy fix, just slip the mixer out of the box and leave the box.  The three cats have become too fascinating now to "fix" the problem :)

I have been craving wild rice for a while and for some strange reason couldn't find it.  Finally I found Oregon wild rice.  It wasn't that great.  I usually sauté chopped onions and celery and add them after the rice is cooked instead of while the rice is cooking.  Since the rice smelled and looked odd to begin with I added the onions & celery earlier thinking to add more flavor.  It all just seemed water logged.  Much seasoning was needed :)

What a day. I could not fall asleep, got up and did stuff on the computer and finally got back in bed at seven-thirty. Finally fell asleep. The doorbell rang at eleven-thirty and it was Grant and his handyman because there are a few things that need to be done here. But I wasn't expecting them. As soon as they left, I went back to sleep and slept until three. So, maybe six hours of sleep.

My other two times to see it were in the nice little theater at the Schoenberg music library at UCLA when they were showing revival house fare in the late 70s, and at the Ziegfeld in October 2007 as part of a celebration of the publication of a Preminger biography.

At that UCLA showing I was thrilled seeing it again, and at discovering how much of the original music Previn had retained... and at the Ziegfeld (with a severely compromised print), I was stunned at how pedestrian the cinematography seemed.

I saw it once when it was first televised, with some fanfare.  It was also available in its entirety on youtube for a while back in the early 2000s.

Once up, I got coherent as fast as I could and began futzing and finessing so I could send the first batch of pages to Muse Margaret. I was pretty happy with everything, so there was only the usual smoothing out, a couple of additions and a couple of subtractions. I also went back to some earlier chapters to check on a few things and I'm glad I did because I ended adjusting a few things I'd let slip by - very helpful - and I'd also changed a character name when I was about thirty pages in and I hadn't fixed that in the earlier pages, so got that done. I called Muse Margaret and told her the pages would be there in moments. I made a PDF of the first 120 pages and off they went - I was quite nervous about it, really, mostly because I struggled a lot with the first two chapters to get everything feeling right to me and to have the tone right, which is imperative in this book for many reasons. And getting the characters just right. Then I wrote one new page, just so I'd be into a new chapter.

I went to the mail place and picked up one package, then came right back home. I made a batch of Wacky Noodles for food, then ate that and it was very good and very filling. I began doing the laundry - sheets, towels, and whatever was in the hamper. Then I went back to writing. So far, I've done about nine pages, so I'll do another five or six at some point, although because of the 11:30 visitor tomorrow, I really need to be in bed by two at the latest.

Then, about twenty minutes ago, I got the call from Muse Margaret, and it was the kind of call one hopes for. She loved every minute of what she read and was very detailed about it and her favorite parts. It was so nice to hear and she was quoting me her favorite dialogue. Unusually, she did not have a single note. And so, onward we go.

I personally know that dear reader Jeanne has at least two books she'd better be reading.
