Good Evening!

Back from the show...

Ehh...

I had a weird night.  It truly felt like I was jumping back in after two weeks off - which I was.  There was also an understudy on for Donna, as well as an understudy for Sam - in other words, the main couple - so the energy was a little weird there too.  In any case... Enough of them, back to me!

:-\

I didn't have a bad show, but there was one section where I ended up second and triple guessing myself, so...  Ah, well...  At least that spot was in the first act - and I had a pretty good second act.

But unless I get called back in sometime this week, that was my last Mamma Mia! performance for now.  I'll be stopping back in Saturday between shows to join the crew for dinner.

However...

I guess it's time for me to buckle-down, and get in gear for my move to New York City.

:)

Funny story department: I was just forwarded an e-mail that had been sent to the West Coast rep on the talkinbroadway board.  This e-mail came from a voice teacher in Canada.  Seems she saw our young Caitlynne win her various competitions with my song Annie.  Caitlynne's mother had told me that everyone was asking her where they could get the music for the song, and the mother wouldn't tell them.  So, this enterprising voice teacher took the bull by the horns.  Isn't that funny?  I think I shall now create Kritzerland Music Publishers to publish it and some others.

Well, since I finally got the update for Finale for my Mac...

Hmmm...

Larry, you mentioned margaritas up by you. Perhas when we all return from the 4th of July (you'll be in DC, correct, and I'll be in Virginia and Rodzinski will still be on the Left Coast) we can gather at the watering hole and snarf down decadent nachos and have 2 for 1 margaritas then I will stagger home on the subway. Perhaps I will become a headline in the Weekly World News.

I wanna margarita too!

Oh...

And I've actually never had chicken feet or chicken paws myself.  I just see them all the time.  Appartently, they are quite - to use a former word of the day - UNCTIOUS.

However, I have had tripe.  I usually get it as one of the 'toppings' when I order pho.  It too is UNCTIOUS.  And the traditional Mexican "restorative", menudo, is traditionally made with tripe.

And after a few margaritas, a bowl of menudo could make for a very good breakfast the next morning.

DR vixmom - WOW!  That was a lot of work on the car.  However, since my car is currently 13 years old, and has 214,500 miles on it, I sort of know what you're going through.  I usually have to my breaks redone every two years or so - apparently, I'm a "hard" braker.  -As opposed to a heart-breaker, which I am most certainly not.  In any case...  I've gone through two sets of front-end rotors and one set on the rear.  Boy! are those suckers expensive.  I also did have some transmission work done a few years ago, but that's been the extent of the major work done on the car besides the usual routine maintenance.  In the 13 years I've owned the car, I think I've only had to spend about $4,000 on major repairs.  Which is practically nothing compared to what I've heard others have to pay for a single repair on their newer cars.  And as I've mentioned before, it still gets about 35-40mpg.  Not bad at all.

*And I have a Ford Escort Wagon which always seems to surprise people.  "You have a 13-year old Ford?!?! And it still works?!?!"  Yes.  Yes it does.  And according to a very informal 'study' that my mechanic has done, there are a bunch of Ford Escort wagons from 1992-94 that are still on the road and running fine.  Yes, they may look a bit worn on the outside, but the engines are in (surprisingly) good shape.

OH....

DR vixmom - I guess what I was trying to say is that it sounds like most of the work you had done - at least the brake system - is just stuff that had to get done since that's stuff that does wear down over time.  When was the last time you had any major work done of the brakes?  Yes, I know you were inconvenienced by not having your car for a couple of days - and the sticker shock for the repair probably was not painless either - but if you look at things in the long run, I hope it's not really that "bad".

And I have GEICO too, and I've always had wonderful service from them.  It did seem a bit strange that they took a few days to take care of things.  However, since GEICO is headquartered here in the DC area, maybe there are just more agents around here to handle on-site inspections/claims.

*Oh, and I've "splurged" since day one with them on the rental car reimbursement add-on. It has come in handy a couple of times over the years.  Is that option available in New York State?

I have a Ford Escort (not a wagon) and I have just over 91,000 miles.  I bought it new in June 1998 with only 20 miles on it.  I've had all the recommended servicing, usually $500-700 every 30,000 miles.  It's the only car that I've ever owned where I've done this.  The only other car that has lasted longer (so far) was my Subaru Justy that I had for eight years (I got it used with 14,100 miles).  But I had to have a second engine put in (not a rebuilt engine, mind you) and literally ran it into the ground...I didn't get the oil changed very often. ::) Anyway, I've learned my lesson and plan to have this car as long as I possibly can.  Mainly just to see how long it can last.  We'll see!

I just finished watching the BK recommended SWING HOSTESS starring the lilton Martha Tilton! It was a very fun movie...although I am not understanding where they got the title...yes she does sing swing, but she is never a hostess in this movie.

And the print was much better then I expected it to be!

This  box of 50 musicals is well worth the $29 dollar price...however, you can get it on Ebay or from sellers on Amazon for around $18.00...that is less then 30 cents a movie....and there are some very cool and obscure musicals in this set!

I mentioned earlier that this past weekend, I got the DVD to the entire series of "Tabitha" with Lisa Hartman and Karen Morrow (and the original pilot of "Tabatha" with our very own BK).  In the mail today came three free (just had to pay shipping) CDs:  I Had a Ball with the aforementioned Karen Morrow (I love her!) and both the original Broaday cast recording and movie soundtrack to The Music Man.  I've owned the records to all of these for years (and I've never listened to I Had a Ball), but had never gotten them on CD.  It was about time, especially since I had free CDs coming from the BMG Music club.  I only have to pay $8.37 shipping for all three brand new (CD club edition) CDs!

Well, I've been sort of feeling a bit "under" all day.  I think I've been fighting "something" too the past couple of days, but I'm getting back to normal.  I guess it was the weekend to get sick.

-Hopefully, we won't find out that posting to this site was the cause of everyone's maladies.  I mean, there are internet viruses, but....

;D

In any case...  I can tell I need some rest, sleep.

Goodnight.

I will not talk about rehearsal tonight.  It was one of THOSE.  Nothing went as planned and when I asked an actor to change ONE line in a sequence, suddenly all H - E - Double Hockey Sticks broke loose and NOBODY in the scene could remember ANYTHING.  And of course they declared that changing the order of ONE line would require all new blocking.

I just wanted him to say:  "Jan, this is George" a little bit earlier, so Jan could leave the stage.....

Oh and the girl from Cloverdale doesn't know when to turn on the fan to blow the curtains, so she decided to come out onstage during the scene to ask me.  But I couldn't answer her because I was upstairs doing the light cues, because Phoebe is gone to church camp for two days.

I think I will pretend we didn't have a rehearsal tonight, and count tomorrow night's as the first rehearsal for us this week.

I want nachos and margaritas, too!  Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much my stomach would appreciate such foods at the moment.  The flu bug that hit Ann on Saturday decided to strike me today.  Had hoped it may be just a little morning thing that would pass quickly, but I realized that was not the case with every passing mile on my drive to work, so I went in merely to tell them I was taking the day off sick.  Slept most of the day away, which seems to at least have kept it from getting worse.  We'll see what the morning brings... not that I mind not being able to score those fershluganah standardized tests...
